Thought Flurry clowns were peaceful

So I Noticed my Flurry clowns were chasing my young Flame angle around and thought it would get better. Yesterday I noticed my angles fins were torn up and 1/2 of his tail fin was missing. This morning the angle was dead and being chewed on by my hermit crab.:angryfire:

My clowns are smallish.. female is maybe 1.25" and the male is smaller of corse. They haven't been hosting anything... not even my sebae (malu). Im surprised they are this aggressive. My purple dottyback is untouched and doing fine.

I agree....i just like their coloration. They are ocellaris clowns

Most clowns, even ocellaris clowns will stupidly protect their territory from anything that seems threatening (including the hand of a human).

34g tank is probably their entire "anemone," or their entire territory. An orange flame angel would definitely be a threat. A young one would probably get destroyed by a clown. An adult would probably be able to fight back and the ocellaris probably wouldn't chase it.

Was the flame angel added after the clowns? If so, that'll do it. Probably best, as I think even a 34g is on the smaller side for a flame angel AND clowns.

ALL clowns can be quite aggressive and territorial, some more than others. Percs and occs are some of the less aggressive breeds, but that does not mean that they are friendly or peaceful to all other fish.

This.
I do see that often tank bred clowns seem more peaceful generally speaking, they seem to recognize the hand as a good thing, and may not have had to defend territory like wild caught, but once they have been challenged for space or territory they can step up in defending it as good as any other clowns.
Your issue is most likely a space/tank size issue.

Dotty's hold their own just fine, in fact many can be just as or even more mean than any clowns, hopefully your doty remains peaceful.
