Hi ,

Currently using Aquaforest line if products in a sps dominated tank . Aquaforest ABVE as additives .
However ,feeling like they hardly have impacts and hence planning to switch to KZ pohls extra ,vitality and sponge power .
Any reviews on non zeovit system ?

Regards,
Abhishek

im a zeo guy, love there system and i have all there products. it is an excellent method, you have to be careful with all the additives, i currently use the zeovit stones in a hand made reactor, zeobak, zeostart3 {carbon source}, sponge power, coral vitalizer(food), regularly. i occasionally use amino acid high concentrate, pif, pohls xtra, and flatworm stop, not for flatworms but it makes stuff grow like mad, unfortunately its a bit too much for my reef. its kind of like feeding rods on a daily basis, it can turn your reef into a swamp. and one more thing i use regularly is coral snow, i think its the best thing they sell. if you try zeo, follow the directions and stay away from the foods or do a third of reccomended amounts. as i feel their dosing schedules are for jam packed loaded with coral reeftanks. good luck zsu

I use the ZEOvit method as well, like zsuman101.
I also agree with him, its an amazing method. I've used it on my previous tank and I'm using it again on my current tank with great success. I also dose Flatworm Stop to help strengthen my coral, as I have for most of my ZEOvit use. However, just until recently I had an AEFW outbreak which I'm currently dealing with. Though aside from that, I've found ZEOvit causing too much of a ULNS. So I've been using ME Amino Acids which has dramatically improved color in my acropora.

I've been dosing ZEObak, ZEOstart, and Sponge Power. I do dose ZEOfood every once in a while when corals look a little bland. Even though ZEOfood is no longer recommended as a "need", I only have it because I purchased the package deal that BRS has.

How does everyone like the flatworm stop? I see a lot of people using it just to make corals a little "healthier". What exactly is it doing? Anyone ever come up with ideas or guesses on what the product is made from? I thought about trying it just for coral health but want to get some opinions. How potent is it? Do you have to dose the full amount daily or can you use smaller doses and get the same effect?

Yeah I want to know too , what KZ products you guys suggest to start with ?
Sponge Power , Flatworm Stop , Coral Sbow ,Pohls Extra ?

From Flatworm Stop, it'll thicken the mucus on your Acropora. I've also noticed thicker branches from the Acropora in my tank since using it. My corals just look "healthier" if you will, as Piper 27 mentioned. They look more.... Full I guess you can say.

@abhisek@1985 - Those are excellent choices to start with. However, the only "required" bottle is going to be Sponge Power out of the list you have mentioned.

Are you looking to switch over to ZEOvit completely? OR just use a few of their products with your current Aquaforest method?

I have a question regarding KZ products too no to derail the thread but since we have people who use the products figured it would be helpful for all of us. I am currently using Flatworm stop and I am also thinking about using another product.

Either Pohls Extra, K Balance or Coral Booster. Which do you guys recommend to help get the best colors and growth out of my SPS

I have a 180 gallon tank with all SPS that i keep stable at 8-8.5 alk, 420 calc, 2-5 nitrate and 0-0.1 phosphates. Right now all I am dosing is 2 part with Flatworm stop but just started flatworm stop on Monday.

I would use Coral Booster to help color up your corals. CB usually works well in conjunction with Flatworm Stop. I'll be starting CB soon to help improve my colors as well.

xtra is ok, i like the booster, but use it only occasionally, for color, i find when everything started responding to the dosing schedule, i started ramping up my radions 5% at a time ...wait a couple weeks, add 5% wait a few weeks etc. i started around 200 par, now im around 400 and have improved color and growth. i ll most likely stop after next increase. one other thing is i use the potassium gel tabs in my sump and keep my levels over 400. once i get over 450 par im going back to my mh radiums. good luck zsu

Hi Hentz ,

Am currently pretty happy with the Aquaforest salt and the Probiotic S and np pro keeping my tank at low nutrients .
For Alk , Ca and Mg - am using Aquaforest balling but might switch to a calcium reactor soon.
It's the coral nutrition and additives of Aquaforest am not happy about .
Do you suggest moving completely to zeovit ?

Regards,
Abhishek

Ah okay, I was just trying to understand if you were looking to go full ZEOvit or partial.
Whether you're dosing or using a calcium reactor, as long as it is stable you will be plenty fine! Just depends on how much you're dosing compared to cost. That would be the ultimate deciding factor in upgrading to a calcium reactor, for me.

Frankly either using ZEOvit products with AF or using full ZEOvit would be fine, I think. However, please note that you may not get the full effects of ZEOvit, as you're not using the ZEOlite stones from Korallen-Zucht. ZEOvit does recommend the use of only their stones, however it can just be a simple marketing tactic to utilize only their products. Though truthfully, I've seen many successful aquarists running ULNS using other methods like Bio-Pellets and such while using the products successfully. I believe you'll get best results either way, as long as you have a system with low nutrients.

However, if you could... Please list to us your parameters of your tank and what you normally keep it at. Also, what do you see in your corals now that you're wanting to improve by using the Korallen-Zucht products?

Thanks Hentz .. Here's my parameters :-

Alk - 7.6
Ca- 440
Mg - 1480
NO3 - 2-5 ppm
PO4 - who knows but think its around 0.03
Potassium - 420

Salt - Aquaforest Reef salt
Coral foods - Oyester feast , NLS nutricell, Aquaforest ABEV , recently started using ME Amino acids
Light - 2x 250 watt Radium running on M80 ballasts
Balling light using Aquaforest Ca, KH , Mg and Reef Mineral salt and Component ABCK strong (for Postassium, Idonie , Fluorine , etc.)

Looking mostly at growth and holding yellow color as I find it to be the hardest to keep .

Abhishek
