Through the Looking Glass

Hey, thank you guys. Always very reinforcing when you get feedback.

Ok

I was hoping to find some interest in the names of the frags but apparently not. I will post the rest of my frags now and then I will hopefully have some photos 6 months down the road to share the development.

16.) Lots of potential, came from a reefer buddy.

17.) Pretty little blue guy

18.) You already know what it is. Hoping to have a yellow body instead of green, we'll see.

19.) Posted this previously, had it for a week now.

20.) Got this from another reefer friend. The picture is redder than it really is, its is more beige . Don't know how this will color up or if it will. Cy you paying attention.

21.) Smooth skinned beauty, expect it will grow slow as molasses and hopefully some interesting but subtle coloring to develop.

22.) From a LFS, they have had colony for a year so they say?! Hope it stays this blue.

23.) Purple dragon eyes I have obviously had it for a while. Just want to track this photographically for the next 6 months

24.) Baby blue beauty. From LFS, they have had colony for a few months. Expect this to turn green or dark, these types of colonies always do. But like every newbie, I just got so tempted to see if it would hold color.

25.) I have had this since about June, 2013 so I already have some action shots of growth.

June 2013

September 2013

January 2014

March 2014

26.) some potential here

27.) Last of new frags

Well, a few more new pieces. Not really very pretty frags but they promise to become beautiful colonies. I think I am pretty much done collecting and trimming old colonies. Time to let things settle in for a while. I am looking forward to tracking the growth of these new frags

Decided to cut out my old superman digita from this area and also moved by garf bonsai to a different spot. Had to grind the remnants of the digitata off the rock. How come when you want them gone, you can't kill them. Cutting the bonsai out was pretty darn hard also. I moved the bonsai over about 10 inches but may drop it down ultimately to see how it does with less par, I understand it should get more purple if I do that. Anyway, this is a very cool frag, exciting because a lot of recent excitement about impostors. I got this one's lineage tracked down pretty carefully and pretty sure it will be a beauty when all grown up

Another frag with worlds of potential, notorious slow grower so it may take a while to claim this real estate. Broke a little tip off while handling--oops, that is a very expensive frag to break.

Never seen the colony in person but have seen the photos of it. Should go through a pretty dramatic change in coloring if it is true to its mother and the original picture. Supposed to be pinkish with purplish tips--to be seen. Sometimes we all get fooled by hype and promise but I look forward to however it turns out. The tank will be overcrowded again when all these fill out a little.

All the new frags look amazing and I can't wait to see them grow up.

How did your CJ pinky and PC Superman look when small? My PC superman is green and slowly turning red and my CJ pinky is orange/brown right now.

Lastly what is this coral below? I absolutely love it.

Hi Bryan,

I am impressed that you noticed my new frags because as a group, they don't look to exciting.

This is my cj pinky and next to it is a frag from a friend's colony. It really does not look anything like the original mother colony picture. A couple,of reasons I believe, 1), frags often take a while to both color up and show the shape of the colony. And 2), I have been told that in 2012, there was a release of rr cj pinky two. I heard that third person and have not confirmed. My frag and my friends look basically the same at this point. He got his directly from reef raft, atleast that is what he told me. My frag of cj pinky comes once more removed than that.

PC Superman acro. This is about a month after I got it (I think). It really took off initially. My tank had a mini crash soon thereafter and it slowed its growth down but I think it is taking off again

And finally, this was purchased as The Vinh from a fellow reefer. A different friend of mine has a spectacular colony and my frag is pretty browned/green out. If this frag does not color up soon , I will ask my friend for a frag of his and start over on this colony. I am trying to have well documented signature colonies but sometimes the vendors simply don't have some of these colonies any more or they are just unavailable

Haha! Thank you. I'm sure you'll be able to pull the colors out of these acros eventually. My CJ Pinky was cut from a mature colony that was purchased some time ago so maybe it was the original (I hope). When I got it, it had yellow corallights with a pinkish body and looked great but now it's lost all of that.

Honestly I think the colors on the vihn you have are amazing and look better then the original one pictired. I thought that one was a totally different acro and was sure of my guess. I would love to get a frag of yours in about a year when it's all grown up.

I took some shots after the halides turned off. Lighting is a little goofy but at least you can see after all the trimming that I have been doing lately, I still have a few mature colonies.

Kinda like the way the pink floyd is growing. I took it with only 20k xm metal halides on. Not sure I got the colors as good as they can be but this is such a pretty coral and so fun to take pictures of that I wanted to share one shot of it. This is a top down picture but my tank brace runs right over it so I have to take an angled top down so to speak. I ended getting a darn red cast to the overall picture that is truly not there, but I still like the pic.

thought I would share some fish pics. I am not very good at getting fish in focus. They are just too darn fast. And anyway, sps are way more fun to photograph, nonetheless.....

Is your angel a nipper??

Not seeing it do any nipping so far but I have not spent the usual hours of staring that I like to do, got too busy with work and then too tired in the evening to stick around and stare. Just a quick look over, feed the fish and then on to collapsing on that oh so comfortable couch.

Took this picture to share on polyp extension for a different thread. Weird picture but pretty cyphasterea. Although like my monti's, I love/hate this thing. They all encrust and won't stop.
