I have been making my own water for about a week plus now. My parameters were always stable but something goofy was going on with my water. So after all these years, I did the responsible thing and am making my own ro/di and saltwater I want to turn over my old tank water with new water but not too fast but quickly nonetheless. I have been changing 5 gallons about 12 hours apart for the first week, so I have changed out about 70 gallons on my 180 this week at about 5% a day. Now I am changing out 5 gallons a day for the last couple of days and will continue to do so for a while. The cool thing is that i do not have to turn anything off except the ATO when I change out 5 gallons, so it ends up pretty fast. Out to the garage, fill up a 5 gallon jug, in the house, turn off ATO, drain 5 gallons, empty 5 gallon jug of new saltwater into tank, turn on ATO and done. About 5 to 10 minutes and its all done, that includes staring at the tank for a couple of minutes as well. Coral are responding really really well. Some of my unhappy sps, are sticking their polyps out once again, phew!
So that means if my coral are happy, I can flood my thread with pictures. I am so delighted by that.
Good, now I have your attention.
I had to chop out a colony for this frag, but I think it will be worth it. This frag is yellow in daylight (sunlight), but with my 20k set up, it looks green. Really strange why I can't capture the true yellow of it. The polyps are much deeper red as well. Maybe its just that it was fragged yesterday and its a little unhappy, who knows. This photography thing is a challenge for me always.
Pretty unusual coral, but I know it will turn out to be stunning. The mother colony explodes with color! Just cut yesterday as well
Not so happy with dipping but still a howler. Another fresh cut frag from yesterday.
This one will light up hopefully, I have had it for a month or more. Tiny frag but growing well. It has struggled a little bit with my goofy water.
Bright yellow in sunlight as well but a little green in my tank. Another new frag cut from yesterday, the mother has branches really close to each other and very, very yellow.
