Through the Looking Glass

Your little frag in post 516and the orange passion look very similar to me..
They must both be a. Tenuis..
LOVE the darth maul potites..
And as usual, I am always waiting on any new post from you, watchguy!
I never get enough of this thread.

I'm curious to see what effects the new water change regimen has on your system..
I'm wondering if it will have enough positive effects to be worth it..
With your nutrients in check and running a ca reactor, I don't really know what all the newly mixed salt water will really give you..

Corals always do better after water change. There are micro nutrients that they need and get used up. Also there are perhaps micro toxic stuff in the water that need to be remove. I change 50 gal every week out of my 500 gal total volume. That come to 500 gal every 10 weeks. Similar schedule but one a week instead of daily. If I don't do this my clams stop growing even if my Ca is about 480 and alkalinity about 4.2

Love your thread! Beautiful corals, wonderful fish, great photography. I love the one you posted yesterday - it looks like a multicolor skirt for salsa dancing. I'll be interested in checking updates on that one as it settles in and grows.

Very inspiring to a newbie reefer like myself.

Love this thread! Amazing tank and beautiful corals. Do you have any more progress photos of the frags from the time you got them and how they look today?

I'll be getting to those pics soon. Most have not really developed as much as I had hoped but my tank is still working through some issues

Both pictures are indeed of tenuis. The first is scc planet earth and really cool. The rr orange passion is actually more amazing but I have not been able to capture the color at all. After your post I went to stare at both frags and the colors of each is so very different

I'm hoping the water changes eliminates gfo, and carbon. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete a 5 gallon change and I don't have to turn any pumps off because the sump has enough volume. I like checking the tank out daily anyway, both livestock and equipment and so I get both things done at the same time

What salt mix do you currently use?
Also what are your alk, temp, nitrates and phos at?

My Alk is usually around 8-8.5 but it creeped upto 9! So
I'm tuning the calcium reactor accordingly. Temp is set between 77.5 and 79.5 via apex Nitrates around 10 and phosphate around .04. I am switching between Red Sea blue bucket ( not pro) and d-d. Their Alk is around 8 give or take

Nice darth maul! Love that coral, one of the best reds I have found in spa yet. How long have you had it? I got mine to grow out and cut it up to spread around 20 nice frags, it felt great to get some more pieces of it in tanks.

love them..
i live almost completely on my iPhone.. rarely looking at a real computer or laptop.
However! when watchguy is posting photos, i will make an exception..
keep'em commin'

Hey thanks guys, appreciate you checking out the pics;

Got my blue spotted jawfish a while ago. Then he disappeared, only to reappear once again.

Here he is in his home:

Here is the guy, completing a remodel of his new home:
