Thumbs up for Ozone!

RedSea Ozone Users,

I have a quick question regarding my Milwaukee ORP probe. I purchased, Redox Electrode Test Solution by Red Sea...

It says to dip the electrode in this solution for 5 minutes... If I get a reading from 430-475 MV my electrode and meter are okay.

If it's 400-430 or 475-500 than clean and retest.

If it's lower than 400 or higher than 500 replace electrode.

The solution in the bottle says contains Sulphuric Acid, is this stuff safe for my ORP meter?

I have the milwaukee and it's platinum but the bottle says this stuff is suitable for the Reagecon type PCPtFCII. Platinum combination electrode with reference cell: AglAgCl (3m kcc saturated with AgCl.) This is all foreign to me, can you make it out?

I pulled the instructions off the web for Red Sea ozone units the Aquazone deluxe and it says this bottle is for checking up on the probe once a week.

Would my milwaukee probe basically be the same type as the RedSea aquazone units?

Thanks,

Mike Guerrero

So...really what's a good ORP controller to use...from your guys point of view..am using a Pinpoint Controller...would appreciate the feedback...

Thanks

Ti: if you haven't already, read Randy H-F's new article on ORP/Ozone. In it he suggests that it doesn't matter what your reading is if your water is clear.

I keep mine at 400.. the water is crystal clear, my skimmer is very very consistent and pulls more gunk. my nitrates are at absolute zero, no trace at all. also, less skimmate gets stuck or coats the neck of my Deltec. more gets pushed into the collection cup

not yet.. Ill take some tonight and try to squeeze them in.. I use the "mixing chamber" approach. I have a small piece of pvc, capped and drilled on one end with 2 holes. one hole for the ozone in and 1 for the skimmer out. the other end has a pilot hole for air intake. this way the skimmer is never starved for air because there is no tee. Ill try to get the pics up

Ok good, something new always you may need a patent on this ;)

not my original idea.. cant take credit for it. got the idea for a LFS in the Tampa area.. works really well with my Deltec

What is this ?
and where is the hoses go ?
Do you use a air pump ?

i need step by step instructions i'm a little slow :D

thats the mixing chamber where ozone/air enter and are drawn to deltec. hose to skimmer is directly attatched and is never starved of air. my pic skills are in need of improvement

OK OK i got it the ozone is push in to the white PVC mixing chamber.
Are you using a air pump?
and then it goes to the skimmer air intake by suction.
Now if you use two pump skimmer all you have to do make the " mixing Chamber larger and use three nipples  one for ozone feed and two for the pumps air intakes..
good idea , thank you, you can even make it a little longer if you like.

I think the top hole, has a tube going to the air intake on the skimmer pump. That is my take on it any way. Ted
I don't think so, the top hole is just there to suck in air.
You can always make it larger and put a fitting on it and run a hose to the outdoors. :p that way no ozone escape in the house.
