Quarantine if you can it's always better to but if you can't afford to find an lfs you trust and that can show you their qt process and odds are you will be fine, but if you can qt do it but if you're going to qt the wrong way you may cause more damage than you prevent so do your research
LFS do not quarantine, no matter what they tell you. The very nature of their business model prevents effective quarantine.
This is the problem with reef central people are so close minded when in reality it's just not true, I have seen many lfs who quarantine even if it's observational qt they can easily treat if signs of disease show up, my lfs holds fish for a minimum of 72 days before even bringing them to the store

99.9% of people will tell you to quarantine. The other.1% will only tell you not to because the s*** hasn't hit the fan yet for them.
back in the day, i was a LFS employee and i can't fathom how one could qt fish for 72 days???

I would kill for an LFS that had a QT option, where they charge you x amount and QT + treat a fish for you, you then come and pick it up when they're done the QT (obviously you'd pre-pay for the fish and service).
ie: $25-40 extra per fish for a in-house QT would be awesome for lazy people like myself![]()
