Toofrigginswt's Custom 125 Gallon Tank Build

Just switch out some bulbs to actinic to lower the intensity.
Glenn

I'll try that tonight. I only have a spare Marine-Glo (actinic) that I'm sure won't give off as much par as the ATI bulbs. I'll replace one of the blue+ with it tonight and give that a shot. I actually think the bleaching started when I added the GE 6500k bulb. Things were starting to bleach on the sandbed! But now everything is coloring back up.

Jonathan, tank is coming along nicely. Love the aquascape.

Thanks Tris!

very nice and very good aquarium assembly, congratulations!!

few eductors have?
which is the measure of the pipe eductors, to measure exiting the pump and reduces as for coupling with the eductors?
as you've done with the pond pump?

Not sure if I understand you completely but I'm thinking that you're saying I have very few bends in my return plumbing?

I thought he said he liked the truck? :headwallblue:

I purchased the same dosing container that you have for my bubble magus doser. When I set it up, I would get air in the lines and lose siphon when using normal airline tubing for connection. I had to switch it to a hard tubing (the type from a RO/Di unit) and it works great.

Sorry, I was wrong in writing

Many, eductor use in the aquarium?
What size are the eductor (1/2 ", 3/4", 1 ") in the aquarium?
What size pipe (1/2 ", 3/4", 1 ") used in the return pump and the eductor?

Jonathan how many hours a day are you running your lights ?
Cutting them back could also help then slowly over time increase the amount of time to your desired target.

Glad it worked out for you. I just used the airline tubing supplied with my marine color dosing unit and it worked for me. My friend actually had the same problem as you with his unit and all he did was use electric tape and wrapped the hose to the fitting on the container.

Sorry I had to look up what an eductor was and it said: "An ejector-like device for mixing two fluids." Not sure if that's what you're talking about.

My return line uses 3/4 inch pvc piping into a manifold with 3 outlets. There are two 3/4 return outlets inside the display. Everything is ran off of one pump including my two reactors.

My drain is a herbie overflow using 1 inch piping.

I think I can appropriately answer your question if I knew what an eductor was. Sorry for my ignorance :headwalls:

Hi Paul, the tank is lit throughout the day for 9 hours. First and last hour is just two Blue+ T5's running. The tank runs at full blast with all lights on for 7 hours. Things are getting better now. I raised the lights another 3 inches and turned off 2 of the bulbs. I also took Glenn's advice and switched one of the bulbs to an actinic bulb. How is your tank doing? I still need to come by your place to pick up some frags :)

Ok sounds like you got it handled.
My tank is empty I gave away all my corals in both tank's so I could get out of the hobby.
Now all I have to do is just post the rock and equipment for sale when I get around to it.
I will still do stand's thou.
Keep in touch.

WHAAAT?!?!?!? No wonder you haven't been posting on the boards as much as before. I'm sorry to hear that you're getting out of the hobby but happy for you at the same time because we all know how much of a money pit this is.

ok, thank you very much that was what I was wondering about eductor,

where I buy the pump, I'm thinking of buying a laguna 2000 for a 130 gal aquarium

I've received some PMs from people asking how I hooked up the manifold to the reactors. I figured I'd give a close up of the pieces I used. I hope this helps.

3/4" Gate Valve > 3/4" to 1/2" Reducing Coupler Slip x Threaded > Threaded push connect fitting

I finally picked up my Canon 7D. Here are some quick photos and some lousy attempts at some macro shots. haha.

This is one of the pieces that bleached but as you can tell it's coming back quite nicely. The polyp extension isn't quite as much as before but hopefully it recovers soon

This piece was pale but now it's getting it's color back as well.

Very nice! It's almost time to sit back and watch this tank take off. Well done!

The polyps extension issue on that one coral could be that flame. I've had plenty of pygmy's that only nip on certain coral types.

Thanks! I agree. I think I am going to just sit back and watch things grow.

I've been watching the flame and I haven't seen it nip at anything but my purple monti cap. I'll keep an eye on him to see if he's the culprit. If so, I'll bust out the coke bottle trap again. haha.

Jonathan, Im agree with Mark. I had the same issue on polyp extension on certain corals before. I have never seen the flame angel nipping on any corals also but as soon as I removed him the polyp extensions came back.

For the record, I think there is nothing wrong with angels nipping on corals. Nipping on corals may not equal great polyp extension, but polyp extension is not always the best barometer of a corals health. :hammer:
