Totally useless, waste of bandwidth while waiting for the next NERAC

See, I thought that was the idea with the man too...

And Chuck the tattoo was revealed long ago in the NERAC birthday thread...now you'll just have to wait until you can see it in person.

Come on, this is the year 2006, keep a man forever? You gotta be kidding! That kind of thing went out the window with women's lib and Bill Clinton ;)

anyway I more interested in seeing that tat of yours (christine) you got to post a picture....

Only a real science dork would find her tattoo exciting. Maybe Dr. Holmes-Farley. (If perchance he's reading this, that's meant as a complement).

Plus chuck, sorry to disappoint you (I just saw your little emoticon, and as usual you have crossed the line from fun into just plain gross), but the tattoo isn't anywhere I'd have to remove clothing to see.

and Doug's right--it's pretty darn geekish. :) No hearts and roses and butterflies for this girl!

And Jan-- a girl can hope, can't she? See, the tattoo is like a checkpoint--if the guy finds it amusing or sexy then he's ok. If not--out the door!!!

(I have to ask my fish nerd boyfriend what he thinks :) )

Ahh, but what did you expect Christine...
you know I'm a

and I hate to disappoint people..:D

I broke the link for the first one, Chuck. It was not appropriate for Reef Central.

Hey everyone,

Good news...I got a new job and get to go back to being a Mad Scientist! Ok, my official title will be Microbiologist for Research and Development, but Mad Scientist looks so much better on business cards, no?

Congrats :D

I'll be starting a new job myself next week, running a wet lab at Stony Brooks Flax Pond Lab. We'll need to do some celebrating after the meeting

hey, No problem Larry I have to say that you been very lenient

but it baffles me how that can be inappropriate but this is deemed approprate...:fun1:

Hey Bill, Best of luck with the new job!

what exactly is a wet lab and what do they do at Stony Brooks Flax Pond Lab?
I guess if you answer that this thread will not be totally wasteless huh? :D

Hey Bill, we'll be neighbors--congrats to you too! I'll be at Stony Brook's High Tech Incubator.

The Flax Pond lab is really nice, if it's where I think it is. There's an artesian well there that I used to get water for my reef when I first started, andthe tank has never looked as good since I stopped using that water. It is crystal clear, and has a decent amount of calcium and nothing else I was able to detect. Just a pain to lug buckets, but worth it--

So what are you going to do there? It sounds great. can I visit once you're established?

A wet lab is a place with lots of running sea water and lots of tanks :D I'll basically be growing fish for fisheries research. There's also other research that goes on there, but much of it is located elsewhere at the moment as they are going to be renovating the lab soon.

I owe much thanks to Evergreen for this job, as she's the one doing it currently and got me to apply for it

Christine,

Your more than welcome to visit ;)

I find that somewhat confusing as well. All I can tell you is that :fun1: was made a part of the available smilies here long before I came along. It appears that it's been grandfathered in. You do have to admit that there is an obvious difference between that, and the one I removed.

Wow, Stony Brook might need to have their own reef club with the members that are now working there. I will be there in Mid August for three years. I will be working on the property for building the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology. The Center will be the first facility built on the new 246-acre Stony Brook Research and Development Campus adjacent to the University on the west side of Stony Brook Road, acquired late last year from the Gyrodyne Corporation.

Hi all,

If any of you are wondering what my next project is and why I'm selling out for the time being, have a look at my new home

2,160 sq feet, a bunch of acerage covered in forest, and just 5 minutes from the north end of Adirondack Park. And the price was right!

No more neighbors screaming at each other, no table saws humming away in the background, no waiting lines at the supermarket, no traffic congestion, and a bunch of really friendly locals. And deer, turkeys, black bears, and the very occasional moose.

We close July 7th.

jan

Congrats Jan,
It looks really nice, and the lifestyle you describe is exactly what I hope to live long enough to achieve.
Enjoy it, just don't get too close to those bears and Moose.
