Toxicity in sand

I am breaking my tank down and I am wondering how long the live sand in my tank can stay in buckets before the sand in the bottom of the bucket starts to get toxic??

I HAD MINE DOWN FOR MAYBE A MONTH SO I JUST LET IT DRY THEN TURNED AROUND AND ADDED IT TO SOME MORE SAND THAT WAS ALIVE. IT WORKED OUT FINE

Can you store live sand in buckets for about 2 weeks. Or does it need to be dried out?


Anyone have further info on this?
