Tragedy strikes Dave

Sad to hear, so sorry for your losses man.

I dont know you personally, but I've seen bunch of threads that you helped a lot of people. I'm sure your good deeds will pay off.

I honestly don't know how I could help but I hope you know that if you need help moving stuff, or anything, I'm willing to roll up my sleeves.

So sorry for your loss bud. Such bad luck you've had with disasters

Beautiful setup Dave. I feel for you, many of us have suffered catastrophic losses and it hurts bad.

As an electrical contractor, I'll address your instalation. First of all, you should pull permits. This is going to require stamped drawings and probably take over a month. I have a pretty good idea on how much you sent on your generac and ATS if you bought it new, expect plans, submitals and instalation to be around 1/2 that much. Depending on complexity.

I'd love to lend a hand but I'm all the way out in the I.E.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words. Fish donations at this time are not necessary. Sadly this was the second time within in a week that the power went out for an extended period. Since the first of my year I have had to run my generator for over 40 hours.

I will try to take action against DWP. It's not like I don't pay enough for them to keep the lights on.

Before starting to restock I did the smart thing and this weekend picked up a 22kw Generac Autostart generator with a 200amp transfer switch.

What I need more than fish is an electrician that can help me get this installed ASAP. I'm good with 110 and 220v - But the power coming from the pole, I don't touch.

Here is a video I put together describing the loss, and appreciating what I still have.

Dave I'm sorry for your lost. Please let me know if there's anything any of us can do. I personally do not do electrical work. However, I will be checking around for you. In the meantime, keep us posted.

Really sorry to see this. You'll bounce back for sure. Dave, your always good about posted up your builds and sharing info. Please do a video on your backup generator build.

PCIScott may be a good guy to ask some questions to as well, he has a backup generator on a Auto Transfer Switch that powers things in his home, including the tanks.

I would like to also install something like that in the future so I'd be following.

Curious, how many more outages have you had since this event?
I know northridge had a real bad one last week

Dave,

Let me know when your tank is ready for restocking, I have plenty of colonies you can have. I am thinking of taking down my tanks lately anyway..

What a major bummer! Sorry to hear Dave. No clue how to do anything electrical without frying myself but let me know if you need a hand with anything else?
