. I guess my question is: If different carbon sources result in different bacteria wouldn't it stand to reason that they would strip away different nutrients or at the very least differently? I have know idea but, I would think it would certainly be interesting to find out. Maybe not different nutrients maybe just at a different rate perhaps. I know that at this time of year I do see a little cyano crop on the sand which I attribute to the fact that temps go up slightly and usually I change my bulbs. I would love to be able to control -even it is minor outbreak. I know I can change bulbs at another time of year but I've been maintaining this schedule for so long that I just deal with it. I may have more nurients in the water at this time of year but, I don't experience it any other time. I've even gone as far as measuring phosphates daily before I change the bulbs and they remain the same as the rest of the year. Anyway my corals -color and growth have never been a problem for me so far. But it is fascinating at the least.
