hi, i just want to make sure that im dosing the vit c right,
i have a 16gal with 5 gal refugium, so i will be doing 200 1st day, 6002nd day,1200 3rd day, 2000 4thday and 2000 for the next 10days
is that right? hope i will get great result like you guys lol. thanks a lot.

If you are planning to dose vitamin c simply to improve your corals you want to end up at around 200 mg of sodium ascorbate for your tank. I would start at half dosage twice a day and SLOWLY raise the amount until you are at 200 mg twice a day. 5 ppm is like a maintenance dose to improve corals and not for tanks with zoa problems.

For every 100 gallons of water (subtract some for rocks, sand, etc):

5 ppm ----- 1892 mg VC
10 ppm ---- 3785 mg VC
15 ppm ---- 5677 mg VC
20 ppm ---- 7570 mg VC
25 ppm ---- 9462 mg VC
30 ppm ---- 11355 mg VC

Adding it to the ato will not give the desired results since the sodium ascorbate breaks rapidly down when exposed to air or water. Figure out your dose and drop it right in your refuge/sump.

Is it 200 mg or 2000 mg? I think you mean the latter, correct? Just making sure I didn't make a mistake when I calculated my dosing regime.

Never mind. I just read the post before yours. I jumped the gun to quick, lol.

thanks jeff, i just want to improve my zoas,
5 ppm ----- 1892 mg VC for 100 gallon, mine is bout 20 gallons so it should be around 400mg each day just to improve my zoas each ? but the 1st 4 day i should start with 200mg each day and then slowly raise it up to 400? thanks again

200 mg for xskyzx's tank twice a day. But I did make a mistake on the dose, its 400 mg.

Yes yes, I'm glad you caught that. 400 mg would be about right for your tank twice a day. If you just want to improve what you have then 5 ppm is what people are going with as an end target amount. 400 mg for your tank is about 5 ppm. If you have problems with your corals then you can go with higher amounts that are shown on that list but you should be golden with 5ppm (400 mg). Take a week or more to slowly get to the 5 ppm level. Watch your skimmer and ph as your tank gets adjusted.

BTW, I was just at Pufferpunk's house again and was amazed at her corals. Her success with vitamin c is amazing. I have had huge improvments with it but her corals are unreal. The growth and color is unmatched and her problems are a thing of the past. You cant even see any rock anymore, its all completely covered with dozens of different colorful varieties of corals.
Puffy, post some of those new pics to give these guys encouragement!

Lol a lot of ppl doing great with the vitc, so I have to give it a try since my tank will be zoas/palys.
While dosing VC can you still dose phytomax and chromamax?

I had a photographer from my reef club come by & take some pics. I want you guys to know--most of these corals were not growing at all & almost all the zoas were melting.

Amazing and beautiful tank puffer, congratulations. I hope mine becomes just as beautiful as yours. I'm on my first week and so far so good.

Are you running any type of carbon? I have chemipure elite and wasn't sure if this would affect the VC. I think I read somewhere on this thread that it was ok to do so.

Im trying this and im already getting results. I had a closed colony which is now fully open and Ive seen a growth spurt in my other colonies. I'm using kent marine Vit C because its what i had when im done Ill buy the one suggested. Also my skimer goes nuts when I dose.

I'm dosing vodka for a third week can i start dosing VC at the same time or should i wait after i finish the vodka treatment

Voltekker, What dossage are you using of the Kent's? I think you would have to use a lot of the product to get the amounts we are dosing hrer.
