Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and order the CV that Pufferpunk recommended.

NutriBiotic, Sodium Ascorbate Crystalline Powder, 16 oz (454 g)

Time to order a crate. :)

I was thinking of contacting the company. I bet they are really curious as to why all of a sudden their VC sales have skyrocketed. Maybe we could get a group discount or at least that $5 off for each order over a certain amount. I just convinced 4 more fellows that stopped by for freebies today (after seeing my tanks) to join in on the VC bus. That's a lot of Chicago folks buying VC!

Good idea Puffy. I wonder if they will even acknowledge that there was an increase in sales.

Quick question. I've noticed a few times and in the summaries a statement of stopping filtration (carbon, phos), but not a skimmer. What is the reason? I've been going through the monster thread and have not really found the answer yet.

Supposedly, it will filter out the VC. I'm still runing Purigen on my diverse reef but I dose the C after where the Purigen is placed in my sump.

So what does the VC break down into after it looses potency? The reason I ask, is because some of the results of the treatment mirrors other kinds of Carbon addition treatments. Stuff like better skimmer function, lowering of PO4 and NO3, and the increase of film algae and the slow death of other algaes. I have a suspicion that VC breaks down into a very potent carbon source for bacteria. Any chemists want to chime in?

I sent an email to I-herb.com, asking if we could get a special discount code just for us, since we're using so much of it.

Sorry guy i accidently made a new thread instead of putting mine here so ignore the other one, I've read this article for days on in. My zoas are closing one after the other, I was told my ha was choking them out, it probably was but i'm starting to get it under control. Used tweezers to get it away from them and i'm bringing magnesium levels up hoping to kill it. BUT main topic, I've decided to try, i'm starting with Ester C pill form. Its got vit c calcium ascorbate and calcium ascorbate. I see nothing about buffered but is the calcium ascorbate the buffer? And as an anti oxident, If it does help (IF IF IF) slow down or control parasites, would it work if a fw tank was stressed and coming down with an infection??? But any way, I took pictures of before and as soon as i see any result i will take more pics and then start posting them.
Guys this is the most successful thread i have every seen on any topic, You all deserve your BA in chem after this one. Good job and don't let the thread die till we got all the info we can. Thanx guys I'll keep intouch.

Started my dosing yesterday, but I'm going much more gradual than the recommended in this thread.

Ohhh I hope they are all for giving us some kind of discount I'm down to about half a bottle already! I have to get some pics of my corals coming back to life since I did some cleaning today.. and found that one of my powerheads died. >:-( My feather duster is almost completely back too and it hasnt even been two weeks!

Okay, i've gotten away from using Vit C cause well... got busy... but i'd like to try again, can anyone give me links to what I can purchase to test this?

I know the stuff u buy in tablets isnt buffered, so can somebody send me full links of what my options are?
