Trip to the Shedd

waverz

Slave to the reef!
My finance and I are attending a wedding in Indiana tommorow, on the way we decided to stop by the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Actually we hit the Planetarium first, it was kind of a waste of money. If you got kids that are into science i guess it would be cool but for the money, it wasnt all that great.
Now the shedd on the other hand, it was pretty danm cool. We decided to skimp a little and just check out the aquarium rather that spend $27.50 piece on the whole 4-d spongebob tour thing.

They didnt have that much reef stuff, but what they did have was pretty cool. I got some pics that turned out okay, it was pretty tough taking pics of the darker tank though. It was definetly worth the $8.

The trip to indiana sucked bad, traffic was packed and it was raining like a beeeeotch. It was pretty much white knuckle and took 2 1/2 hours....yeeeouch.

Feels good to land somewhere, im gonna go jump in the hottub.

Yeeehaaaw!

Wait until you get back and see all this white crap all over the ground! :mad2:

So you going to hit some fish stores on the way home, and pick up some goodies? :D

DUHHHH, what do you think? I aint going danas cousins wedding just cause i like weddings...........

Hey Jeremy when you pick those frags up for the guy in chicago, if you haven't spent that reactor money yet pick me up a couple cool frags........I'm looking for a yello tort, blue slimer, anything encrusting monti, anything with awesome color.........Oh and have fun.....later Jason

Actually gonna hit a chicago club members house for some SPS frags, the hit Rods Reff on the way home.

WE made it back home, i got some really sweet frags form a dude in chicago, we were gonna hit rods-reef on the way home too but it was getting late and we took a wrong turn somewhere so we decided just to b-line it home. I came back to a jungle....im about ready to bust all my corals off the rocks and cook em for a few months...this caulerpa is everywhere, now im getting patches of hair algae. I either need to find a fish that will graze like no other or rip my tank apart. Im not about to mount all these new SPS frags and watch them get barried under algae....

Cook 'em! It does work quite well. A full cook of 4-6 weeks is best and will clean the rocks completely but the Calerpia and Hair Algae will be dead in a week or two. At least that is how it went down in my case.

Got any frags pics let?

Yeah, i got pics, but ill take better ones tommow, i got 16 new babies, including some really sweet birdnest's, some digi's, montis, green /w ppl rim cap, bonsai, chalice.

Im gonna try a foxface for the caulerpa, i was gonna pick one up today but i didnt feel like getting home super late from chi town.

Im gonna see if i cant find one tommorow.........if fish wont do it its time to start cookin'

That's really pretty funny - diablitaroja and I were at Shedd two days ago and intended to hit rod's reef on the way home today, but were too late. We DID hit 5 fish stores in chicagoland, though, and I fully recommend that anyone in the vicinity of I90 drop by Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge, the single best aquarium store I've ever been to, and Petland in Schaumberg, which is also an awesome store.
