Tunze 9002 noise

For almost two weeks i have the Tunze 9002 in my Red Sea Max 130,but since i installed it it is making allot of noise,a buzzing noise,i managed to make the entire tank silenced, from the circulation pumps till the fans in the hood.I have tried until now to make the Tunze allot more quieter but nothing seems to help, now i can even hear it from 5 meters away from the tank!I have contacted the webstore where i bought it,but it is not known for being easy in trading something that is broken/defect you buy....So if they won't replace the motor of the Tunze, what can i do next?

p.s:I got a tunze 9002 with the magnets.I moved one of the magnets to it's side so it could be installed correctly in my tank (the noise was already there before i moved the magnet and the Tunze is on the correct height in the tank).

where is the noise coming from? maybe something is caught in the pump. i would try cleaning it out.

it's the pump itself that is making the noise,i took it outside of the Tunze housing and put it against the glass of the aquarium and its making the same noise, and it's brand new,i already tried cleaning inside of it.Did not help at all.I thought after two weeks it would go quieter but it's the same, according to other 9002 owners it's very silent so they only hear the bubbles of the Tunze.

I have seen a similar problem before and the cause was the date stamp is in the area where the impeller spins and the numbers and marks were particularly high so the impeller hit the date. You can check this, it is a round dial with numbers 1-12 and an arrow to indicate the month of manufacture and if the cast is really tall or rough the impeller may hit the impeller. The factory would replace this for you but I don't believe they open until the 5th and usually they don't take phone calls until the 12th. The first week is just inventory/ bookkeeping and production.

I have checked but the stamp was not high,i smoothed it out a bit with some sandpaper,it did not remove the noise.

My guess would be that the shaft is crooked or the impeller is damaged. I would get in conact with Tunze in Germany or possibly Tunze France. I know Claude is working a bit over the holiday, he emailed me today.

I also have noticed that between a few seconds i hear a bubble of air,it's like air gets stuck somewhere in the housing and than it releases...

No,its really in the housing itself,i watched inside it when it was on and when i heard the bubble i saw a bigger bubble than normal coming up,when water is in the airline it makes a hissing noise, like a snake on helium :p .The airline is clear of knicks and bends,i pulled it down to the motor department so it's not pushing against the upperlid and bending the airline. But i am making a e-mail right now to send to the Tunze department in Germany.

As I said, they are closed for the holidays. It will take a while, I am sorry but they don't officially open until Jan 12 from the holiday break. This week they will start with bookkeeping and inventory and likely start answering the emails.

I picked up a 9002 last month and had a rattling noise that seemed to come from the housing. I opened up the bottom of the skimmer and found the pump was sitting a little loose, so when it was running it would shake and bump the housing.

I placed the left over rubber stuff from the magnet mounts between the pump and the bottom of the housing so the pump is sitting on it and that seemed to do the trick for me.

Well,it's the 18th by now and still nothing from Tunze,i had send out another e-mail but nothing.I thought their customer service was so great? Now i am forced to buy a brand new one seeing i don't hear anything back from the webshop where i bought it and from Tunze.I now have send a e-mail to that webshop that if they don't react to my e-mail i will send a complaint to qshops.org.A website where you can complain about these kind of webshops that scam you.

I wrote to Regina emphasizing that she must answer you ASAP. I am sorry but I know that after they are closed for 3 weeks they have a lot to catch up on. She did confirm to me that she would answer you. I would check if you have a spam filter, the email would have come from Regina Steltzer, she may not have had a chance to write you yet but she will.

update:

Nothing, nada emails received. So now i am basically forced to buy a new one.Just great, just when i received allot of bills.

Can you PM me your email address and I will double check everything? I am sorry that they did not contact you yet.

I've experienced an issue with loud airflow through the venturi in my 9002. The result was a build-up of salt in the plastic 'L' that links the airline hose to the venturi device. After cleaning that out with a paperclip, it ran like new again.

Although, I have to do this procedure about once a month.

Try raising the skimmer a bit, this will reduce the water and salt entering the line. You will have to open the airflow a bit more to compensate.
