I've decided to wait on one, but I asked Marine Depot a couple of days ago and they said they had a few in stock. You might want to give them a call and see if they still do.

yup, but also not gonna be available for a couple of weeks (till i get a skimmer to replace it)

Hi,

Just wondering is the 9015 really that underpowered? I haven't been able to operate mine till now. I am waiting for replacement impellers as the voltage here is 220V 60HZ and everything i received was in 50HZ. I've been going over forums from Singapore and they are running 9015 and are very satisified with them even with heavy bioloads.

The reason i am asking is because i am already thinking of changing...i am running an ASM g3 and i find that it is not effective enough so what would the Tunze be able to do?

Can you give me some insight on your current views, and what kind of skimmer you'd be going for. Would the new master skimmer be adequate?

well, i am not yet sure which skimmer i will be getting to replace it as i dont have the space for most of the skimmers i'd like.
i've never used a G3 or the Master DOC to be able to comment on them, but suspect they would probably outperform the 9015.

i see these as great skimmers for those with limited space. however, for those who have the room for a larger skimmer, i'd probably go with the larger ones.

hey tunze DOC 9010 owners..... ive been wanting a sump for quite sometime and ive seen a lot of other skimmers and such but have been skeptical... my gut feeling has always been to go with a tunze skimmer.

after reading all this im gonna do it..

just wanted to ask questions first..

i have a 29g with a 10g sump/refug..

the space i have for the skimmer is 4 1/2'' long and 10'' wide

i have a tad more than 8 1/2'' inches deep of water in the baffle i want to put it in. should that be enough...

its the same baffle as the drain tube is in.. is that a problem or not?

any more info i should know before i buy it to make sure it works good?

would it be smarter for me to buy the 9010 or the nano one?

where is the best place to buy it also??

any help would be great!!

Hi Evan,

The space and depth of the water is more then sufficient. The skimmer footprint is roughly 4 by 4 inches. The minimum immersion depth in sump is 3.9 up to 11 inches so you got no problem there also. As for being in the same area as the drain tube it shouldn't be a problem as long as there aren't too many bubbles.

Since your tank is 29G you could go for smaller like the 9005. But then you'd have to get the extension set for in sump operation. Add that to the price of the skimmer and your not to far off from the 9010 (which comes with all accesories for in usmp operation)....so stick to that should be perfect.

If you have 6" of space over the skimmer, you can comfortably remove the cup. The only place that may have a 9010 at the moment is Marine Depot, but I hope to get more in next week. With the outlet the skimmer is really more like 4.7" by 7"

so what about the nano DOC skimmer? is it worth the 135 bucks or should i just save up to go all out...

if i were to get one i would most likely design a new sump and such for it....

if i were to make one with a refugium where would be the best place for the skimmer???

It depends, on a 29gal average tank, no problem, go Nano skimmer. If you mean a packed to the gills SPS tank, go 9010.

That said, Roger, please tell me your thoughts on this situation:

I am starting up a 24 gallon AquaPod that I do intend to pack to the gills with SPS. However, I will not be drilling for an external sump (will be doing all of my sumpy stuff in the very limited space in the back) and therefore was intending to get a TUNZE DOC for inside the tank. I have been trying to decide whether I really, truly, need the 9010, or if I can get away with saving $72.44 by buying the 9005 instead (since I do not need the extension kit).

Obviously, even the 9005 is rated at a max. capacity of many times (5.5 times) the size of my tank. But, then again, it will be packed to the gills with SPS. What do you think?

Also, I have read a lot about these skimmers being finniky when used in-tank due to the need for a consistent water level . . . I got the Osmolator for that, so I assume that this will guarantee performance just as good as when sump-mounted w/ extension kit?

If the water level is constant you will be fine but will the 9005 fit in the back compartment? I thought the 9002 was the only one that would?

No, I would be putting it in the aquarium, against the back compartment but not in the back compartment.

Another thing I was wondering (for another, smaller tank):

Can the sensory components of the Osmolator fit inside Nano Cleaner 3165?

On tunze.com it says, "Osmolator Universal 3155 can be used as a supplement in . . . COMLINE quick-run filters . . ."

And, technically, the Nano Cleaner is a COMLINE filter, but I was suspecting that the above quote was in regard to full-size COMLINE filters, as the Nano Cleaner appears to have no spare room in which to house the Osmolator components. But if it could, that would be ideal for me. Your thoughts?

The osmolator will not fit in the 3165, we tried over and over and couldn't make it work. It is just too small.

well since i made that last post about getting the 9010 for my 29g.. ive upgraded to a 90g tank..

will the 9010 still be good for a 90g sps and lps tank with a medium fish load...

any comments?

IME, without a doubt! I am truly loving this skimmer. I have it wide open and it is perfect. I empty it every 3 days and it empties the room with its stench.

Hi everybody, new here. Fantastic forum i must say.

Even though i live in Sweden, i was hopeing for some help here..(ROGER)!!

I got myself a Aqua Medic Percula 90(70 gallon) 90x60x60 cm

I´m haveing trouble with my Aqua medic flotor for Percula, it´s leaving to many bubbles into the system and it´s quite loudly

Considering byuing a Doc 9010.
I will focus on sps and only a low amount of fish.

Thinking a 9010 would fit in the skimmer compartment, but i dont know!?

The skimmer compartments messurements in cm is in Length 16,1 cm Hight 58cm, Wide 11,7cm i might be able to increase Wide to 15 cm, but it isn´t optimal.

I will have a consistant water level in the skimmer compartment at apox. 41 cm, does this mean i have to hang it on the side or build up a stand, if i don´t want to have it hanging in the gliders?

Sorry Roger perhaps too many questions, still hope you can answer some though!!

It should fit as the dimensions are 12.5cm * 11.3cm * 41.8cm, the depth of the water should be 29cm so you must hang it from the frame so only this much is under water.

Ive made up my mind about two weeks ago finally on the 9010 ovr the euro reef. just gotta wait till next tuesday till i get paid and can get this guy. this hobby dosent not help out a 19 year old college student working at 12.50 an hour. i should of not gotten the 90g.. but it is gonna be awesome

anwways.. out of the box is it pretty easy to set up. im sure it will be easy and all but is their any special ways to do it for maximum performance.

any advice would help.
