Tunze nano mod

when you do the wide flow mod to a 6025, how do you get the fish screen to fit onto the pump? it seems to small, do you use the one from a 6045 or something?

I'm not sure/can't remember if a pic of this has been shown or not yet, and don't feel like cruising 30pgs to check, AND would also like to keep this thread alive as I feel it's just one of the best mods ever!(Thanks Pink Floyd dude!)
So here's how I did mine, used rubber band for straight edge/cut guide, and yes, screen fits right back on.

Tunze 6055 MOD

Tunze 6055 MOD

What mods can I do to a 6055? What can I expect to see after the mods?
If someone can tell me the worthwhile mods, I will look them up.

Thanks
Brad

Hey guys,

Great thread. I did the mod yesterday and now the pump vibrates and rattles like crazy? What would cause this? If I take the cover off it runs fine.

thanks

Same problem with mine. Not initially but after awhile it developed the noise. I found that the impeller knocks against the inside of the pump shroud when it first comes on and then once in awhile after running long term.

hth...

I just did the standard mod on my 6025 today, and first off I would like to apologize to the unsuspecting hermit crab that I accidentally blasted 4 feet across my tank. Perhaps I should name him Buzz.

Anyways, thanks for the mod. My protein skimmer is going nuts. Until now I didn't realize how much detritus I hadn't gotten out of my tank.

Could there be a rough spot on shroud?
Maybe sand it down a bit?

I modded both my 6025's some months ago (just taking the bit of plastic out with a dremmel). Sometimes now they start up in reverse. Is there anyway to stop this, as we had a power cut in the night and when I came down they one was running backward?

Just being lazy as there is 32 pages to read through!!!

Starting over with a new shroud and not taking out the collar on the inside or, at least not so much of it that it rattles against itself inside? Just conjecture on my part as I haven't done it yet though.

Until the inner collar was replaced on mine, it wouldn't start up correctly. You can get new shrouds from Roger at a minimal cost.

Other than that, the only other way to correct it is by sticking your hand in front of the pump and then it corrects itself. That was what I had to do every time I powered them down and then back on again.

Hope this helps....

Hope you would have time to answer this message :)
I have followed eagerly the thread from Copenhagen.
I have modded 6025 and want more flow.
As the 6045 doesnt give more then 6025, what would you recommend? Which pump, without a controller, would be worth investing in and doing mod on?

I just want to get maybe twice or little more then twice as much as a moded 6025. 6055 moded, what would that give in gallons? They are quite expensive, so I was lokking for something closer to 6025. But the next in line, 6045 doesnt give much more then 6025, as I understand.?

About 3 years ago I replaced my 4 6055s with 2 6205s and have been very happy. I can also tell you that I have my 4 original 6025s modded and still running in my fuge (3 separate compartments) and 1 in the show without any issues. They have been running non stop for at least 5 years.

Skydancer, what would you then recommend? I have now 2 6025 modded running in one on my Tanganyika cichlid tank, and would like to replace them maybe with just one instead. What would that be for that purpose? I have a background filter, so the stream pumps need to be in one place to make the debris move in one direction, towards the exit.
I could easily need more then what the two 6025 modded(just removed the inner tube) are giving right now.
