I have been told by an lfs owner and read a review from somone who owns a tunze skimmer that they are not that great.I wanted to know first hand from people who have tham and what they think of the skimmer. Also have you tried other skimmers to compare.Tunze makes good products so I was surprised my lfs owner told me they were crap.He sells the tunze products but has tried the skimmers and didn't like them. How do they compare to other skimmers like a deltec,h&S,ASM etc. They seem small and compact wich is a nice thing. The new line of skimmers looks great aswell but a bit bulky for my sump. Thanks would it be better to wait to get the new line of skimmers

Sounds like the exact question I would pose. I wish we could get some answers.... I am on the verge of buying the 9020 for my tank. Someone help us thanks.

Yes I paid a pretty penny for my Deltec hang on.It a good skimmer but not the best. For the money the tunze looks good.I think it was there old plankton friendly skimmers that didn't perform well.I always liked the tunze line.I found it odd that my lfs told me they sucked.

Skimmers seem to be one of the most controversiall pieces of equipment in the hobby. If you look in the equipment forum, you will find a thread for each skimmer out there, touting it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have a 9010 in my 58G tank and am very happy with it. It produces tea colored skimmate, but some very nasty smelling stuff. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Don't know why your LFS doesn't like them, perhaps it's profit margin ;) .

I think he didn't like the older models. He carrys Deltec now but he also has the remora, coralife and octopus skimmer. He has tunze products but not skimmers. He carrys low end skimmers and high end skimmers.I know he prefers the Deltec line.I don't know how much of a profit margin there is(for him) I would imagine Deltec makes a larger profit.Plus you can't bargain on the price.I have tried.
