Tunze Stream Drive Shaft Failure

Hi Roger,

Do you know if there was a manufacturing fault that occurred with the Tunze Stream 6100? I have had my white plastic drive shaft shear completely in two and there was no blockage at all to put undo pressure on the shaft. Indeed I have just checked the magnet and there wasn't even any CaCO3 build up (not too surprising I last serviced the pump about 2 months ago).

FWIW I seem to have two different 6100s , one with a black screw attaching the impellor to the drive shaft and one with a white screw. It is the white screwed version that has sheared.

Should I contact Axel directly for a replacement? Is this something that you are aware of as a manufacturing fault in earlier versions?

I have heard only of two incidents- one was customer induced- improper removal and the other was snail induced- Stomatids entering the pump at night. It is possible but not something I have seen here. Most of what gets called warranty here I pay for. For the most part German companies are quite strict and I don't know that this would be considered a warranty issue- their are to many possibilities. It is a very innexpensive part though. $6.68 US.

Hmm reread your post- I have never seen one with a white screw. I really can't answer. I know in Europe some units were sent that were essentially Beta models with no finished box or instructions. In my expereince though the shaft is only breakable by a sudden impact- hitting something which has entered the Stream.
