UCSB Santa Barbara NSW Natural Sea Water...

i had the water from scrips tested before the max event anyone interested in the results let me know
p04 was .03 silca was high
i will look threw emails and put it up on this thread

You guys have any directions on how to get to the filling station at Scripps? Moving to oceanside in a week and will need lots of water...

Picked some UCSB water up last night and it tested with a digital meter from one of the science labs there.
Temp. out of tap was: 63 deg. F
Heated some to 78 deg F and results were:
SG: 1.024
pH 8.12
Phos: 0.05
These all seem ok with me.....

thank you for testing.

i am so glad to hear that.

i will do some more testing with my meter on some tapwater and ro/di too.

Heres what I tested on the UCSB water

po4 .12
Ca 350 elos
Alk 6.5 elos
Alk 6.15 LaMotte
Mg 1100 elos

I tested each element twice to make sure. These are all considerably less than we desire for our reefs... Can someone else please test the water next time they pick up?? Reefski's, perhaps??

Ian what did you test the Po4 with? I would think it would cost more to fix the water buffering, alk, cal, mag and Po4-gfo.

FWIW...some readings from late April

Alk 7.4 Salifert
Alk 7.0 Elos
Ca 380 & 390 Salifert (two different kits)
Mg 1230 Salifert

Still... a 1.0 point swing in Alk between two recent tests is a nasty swing. Has anyone reached Scott at UCSB. They constantly monitor their water... just curious what they see on a week by week basis.

last batch a couple of weeks ago phosphate tested at 0.09ppm. scott told me they don't regularly test phosphate and he didn't know the level.

ive noticed. this too. the water lately hasnt been as quality as it was when i first started using it...=/

I have been feeling the same, definetly a change in their system or nature. I have also had poor quality for the last few months. Back to synthetic for now.

what is different? feeling it is different is not the same as knowing it is different.

i don't think their system has changed for many years.

what do you mean by poor quality?

next time i go i will test Ca, PO4, Mg, dKh.

has anyone tested any water parameters? Can you post your results?

Carl

The standard parameters seen to be within range, but for some reason the overall water quality seems to be out of balance. Sorry no specifics on this Reefski's but the over all health of my system has been going downhill. I have had very few issues while using NSW for some time now. The last few months seem inconsistant. What about your overall water quality?
