UFC fans

He might have a big chin, but can it hold up against multiple solid shots from someone like fedor? and woooohooo on page 4

We will never see a co-promoted fight between the UFC and any other organization, particularly the M-1 (Affliction) show. Dana despises Affliction. That's not just rumor but actually confirmed by my brother who has worked with Dana and the Fertitta brothers on several occasions. I don't blame the UFC for this; they really don't have anything to gain.

The UFC tried really hard to sign Fedor a couple years back. The issue wasn't money. The UFC wouldn't allow Fedor to compete with his country's Sambo team while under contract. Its unfortunate but we're going to have to wait to see Fedor in the UFC until his contract is up with M-1 and the UFC starts to give in a little, which isn't likely.

I would wager to bet that Tim is in a perpetual state of retirement right now. He got paid $800,000 to lose to Fedor. Want to guess how much Fedor was paid for that fight?

wait for it...

...$300,000 Yep, that right. M-1 just throws money around when they can show that there champ is better than the UFC's.

Tim is actually a decent guy. I've met him a few times at local shows. I cornered my buddy once, Tim was a judge and Matt Hughes was the ref. In case anyone was wondering... Yes Matt Hughes is a total dick in real life too. :)

How much does Fedor weigh? I don't believe I have seen him fight, or I have and have forgotten. Anyone a Tim Sylvia fan, I have never been too impressed by him but he has won some big fights in the past. It would be interesting to see him battle Brock, although I would say Brock would probably win. It's those hammer fists he throws when he gets someone down, he is so quick and once he starts he doesn't stop. I think he just caught Randy in a bad position and capitalized with his speed and power. That's the world of MMA though. Ok since we are on this who thought the Forrest and Rampage fight was a crock O POOP. I love Forrest and think he has great heart but it just seemed a little set up to me.

Do a YouTube search on Fedor. You probably have never seen him fight as he's never been in the UFC, but when Pride was still run by the Triads he proved he's the best heavyweight out there, hands down. Pride was a Japanese based show and use to buy all the best fighters. I went to a seminar once by a prominent UFC/Pride fighter and he said that Pride would pay you a declared purse (which you had to pay taxes on when you got back in the states) and then they would pay double that under the table. He said each of the corners would stuff stacks of cash in their underwear to get though customs.

Oh BTW, when Pride went belly up because a crack down on organized crime in Japan the UFC was able to buy them up for 1 million, great deal. This where the UFC got most of its CroCop and other Pride fighter footage.

I always enjoyed Pride. Unfortunately, it always seemed to air at odd times during the day, and was not nearly as publicized as the UFC has been these past few years.

The Pride Grand Prixs were the best, 16 man tournaments, each round seperated by about 6 weeks of "heal" time. Pride paid fighters like they should be, which the UFC still isn't doing but they're getting better. There were two things I didn't like about Pride, the ring and no elbows allowed. However, the head stomps, soccer kicks and knees to the head on the ground made up for that. ;)

Up until they got busted they had most of the top ranked fighters in the world, even after the UFC blew up and became a household name in the states. However, many of the Pride fighters coming to the UFC haven't faired too well in their first couple fights. The switch from a ring to a cage changes up a game plan a lot, plus round length and judging is different. Pride used to do one ten minute round followed by one five minute round if there wasn't a finish. Honestly, I miss Pride. Yeah, we get to see some match-ups diehard fans have been waiting for forever but I think in the long hall the monopoly the UFC is building maybe its downfall. Regardless, MMA isn't going anywhere.

Marcus Davis was a boxer. He was even on the Contender TV show. I don't know about the rest of you but boxing is the reason I started watching MMA. I loved boxing until all the drama and lack of action in the fights.
