Thinking of getting one of these units but can't find much info on quality, it's a 40 watt uv/ozone combo unit by ultrazone (formerly ultralife), anyone with knowledge or experience with the quality of construction and operation of these unit, please chime in, thanks

Thought I'd be more specific about brand, someone with any ultrazone unit might chime in on the quality of whatever unit they had or have had, why are you the post police?

No. But I pretend to be. Don't look out at my past posts or the times I have been banned here before...

My ozonizer is a Ultralife Ultrazone Mini - 200 mg/hour. It looks homemade in that it is made from PVC with caps and a slot slot cut down the length to accommodate the internal metal tube. That internal tube looks like it is well crafted and done with pride in craftmanship in the welding. I'm happy with it.

woah, this thread is full of Garys! For a second I thought you were talking to yourself.

Thanks that's what I wanted to know, if anyone had a ultrazone product and was happy with it, think I'll give it a try

Curiously.. Why would you go with something like that that which is hardly recognized by reef aquarists vs something like the Ozotech units which have controllable outputs and are widely recognized to be one of the better generators? The only upside I can see after doing some reading is that they say you don't need an air drier. Something I never really used anyway.

This is the Ozotech unit I am talking about and essentially the same one I use. They are reasonably inexpensive but proven to be very reliable.

My question is honest as I am truly curious what the perceived upside to the Ultrazone unit is. Is it the light generated ozone vs the more typical corona discharge method and if so, what is the upside there? Is there something I am missing or is it a desire to be different? No disrespect intended by the way. Up until your post, I had never seen that unit before and nobody ever spoke of it for our applications.

I have limited space and so I don't want to run it thru my skimmer, nor do I have the space for a ozone reactor, I wanted a unit that would fit right where my existing uv unit is mounted, this has the same dimensions but with ozone built in and as you stated does require an air dryer

Also could I per say mount your unit on the inside wall of the stand and use a mazzei injector style venturi to draw the ozone from a unit like the ozonetech directly inline before my existing uv sterilizer

Makes sense.. I didn't realize that they had one the UV built in as well. I knew of the AquaUV one though and looked the Ultrazone up. The one I saw didn't appear to have the UV filter. Or at least I think it didn't. When I went back and checked their website, I realized I missed something. I wonder how much maintenance will be needed to keep the UV running optimally without cleaning the sleeve regularly. I also wonder about the O3 contact time. Seems 300-500GPH doesn't allow for much 03 contact time through that small tube but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I've never had anything from that company, so I just wanted to check the quality of their products, but the other gary that post, says he has a different unit that's ozone only, but he said it's a well built unit
