Unofficial poll on tank temp.

80 in winter with heater (rkl controller)

82-85 in summer without any type of chiller except what it gets from central AC (set at 80)

68 to 76 degrees, although it has gone lower. My main concern is that it gets no warmer than 76 degrees -- so, considering the house isn't airconditioned, sometimes there is so much condensation on the tank you can't even see inside.

Wow, what do you have in the tank? I think that is the lowest so far in the thread.

77.5 - 80 The Neptune Controller lets the heaters and fans duke it out.

I will need a chiller come spring though...

I hope I don't need one for the summer. Those things are pretty expensive. I have my tank in my bedroom and I also have a small refridgerated window AC in the room. I can keep my room at 64 all summer. I wonder if this would work instead of buying a chiller?

swings between 77 and 80.
80 by the time lights go off at night, drops to 77 before they come on in the mornings. Heater keeps it from dropping below 77.

i have mine set to keep temp at 78 all year round, once temp drops below 78 reefkeeper turns the heat on and keeps it at 78. at 79 chiller comes on and cools it down to 78.
so all yr around my temp ranges from 77.9 to 79.

For the people that run 82+ is that by choice or dependent on the room temp. I guess what I'm asking is that are you purposefully varying the temperature in the tank?
Both. I shoot for natural reef temps, which means a low of 76, a high of 86, and an average of about 82.

In winter I use a heater to keep the temp 78-83. In the summer the room temp keeps it about 82-86 on its own. I don't use a chiller, but if I did, my summertime max would still be 86. There's no good reason to keep it cooler.
