Still nothing found on the website this morning. I responded to Curt asking for a link to the pre-order sign-up on the website.

Pre-Order sign up without even communicating the capabilities yet?

You guys are driving me nutz each time this thread gets bumped :spin1::confused::spin2::mixed::worried::hmm5::lolspin::hammer:

This announcement was enough for me...

Neptune Systems Announces New Product for EcoTech Marine's VorTech Pumps

November 17, 2009"”San Jose, CA"” Neptune Systems, the leading manufacturer of aquarium controllers is developing a wireless interface which will allow for the control of EcoTech Marine's line of VorTech wireless pumps.

"œWe are extremely excited about this new product", says Curt Pansegrau, president of Neptune Systems. "œThe feature rich interface module allows for the market leading VorTech pumps to be used to their fullest potential. With development underway and prototypes already running in the lab, we are pleased to be the first controller company to utilize this versatile wireless interface technology."

The AquaBus based VorTech interface module will allow for the independent control of multiple pumps. In addition, firmware updates of both the interface and the VorTech pumps as wells as reporting of pump status and diagnostic information is possible. Like all Apex accessories the VorTech Interface Module is also plug-n-play, so setup and configuration is extremely easy.

I probably improperly assumed pre-order list meant putting money up..

If you can truly change flow rate of each each pump independently and on the fly with few caveats then this will be a winner.. I don't see it explicitly state that though. Which is why a few more details on capabilities and limitations would be nice to know.

Nope - no charge placed until the ordered item is shipped...

It should be able to do on your laptop anything that you can do with the Vortech controllers... plus you should be able to set the changes using the Apex clock and feed commands...

I haven't found anywhere offering it for pre-order yet.

But while looking, I noticed that Aquarium Specialty lists the PM3 for sale.

If you have the wireless controllers already, would this be a benefit? Can it mimic the new types of flow similar to the new EcoSmart drivers? In other words, if I don't have the EcoSmart drivers yet, will there be a program on the new module that would copy the new EcoSmart modes without having the need to buy the new drivers?

it will be to me. this will enable you to control your vortech wireless pumps with apex programming. meaning you can turn them on/off, change speed settings, and pump modes all based on times set in your apex programming. might not be useful to everyone, but im looking forward to it for my tank!

edit:
also, this module does not connect directly to, or replace any of your vortech pump parts or controllers. what the module does is connect to them through wireless, just like your current pumps connect to each other now using master-slave modes. so all you would have to do is connect to the new module to your apex system, and then sync it up with your pumps and magically it will all work! (of course i dont know the specifics yet, but that seems to be how it will work)

This is great, but back to one of the original questions: will this support all the new wave mode features of the new Ecotech controller? This from the Neptune description suggest not:

"Supports Ecotech's Constant, Reef Crest, Lagoon Random, Pulse, Sync and Anti-Sync modes."

Those are the modes for the current, now "old style", Vortec wireless controllers.

Still on the fence - though one touch feed is compelling.
