I wanted to share this picture to rub it in that I aquired a "Mini Colony" of the URS Red Planet. Thanks reefing buddy! I'm not sure if you want me to reveal your name, but you know who you are.

After acclimation of about a week I moved it up in the tank. A bit more flow and more lighting. I can't wait for this one to take off.

The picture is not very clear, I should clean the glass before taking these pics.

We should all post pics of our urs red planet corals it seems like they vary immensely in everyone's tanks. Mine and Henry's don't even resemble each other and I got my original frag from him

I got my frag from Henry. Here's a shot from a couple of months ago. It's growth seems to be tabling. It's in a high flow area directly underneath the halides:

wow con mine doesnt table I will try and get a pic of it later when my lights come on I lost my large colony when my rose decided to go for a walk but i still have a good chunk of it. this is an awesome coral cool colors and very fast grower

Mine is starting to table, and the growth has really picked up. I started mine from a couple of small chips 9 months ago, and it's gotten to a nice size.

However, my URS red planet looks nothing like the pics that I've seen from other members. The base of mine is still very green. Only the tips and polyps are red (which can give it an overall brown look at times). It's about 12" down under 6 bulbs of T5, and gets high flow.

Does it need to be higher up to get that purple and red look?

How many inches from the surface would you say that it is? I think that I'm going to break a piece off and try to grow a frag higher up.

I still have a bunch of green on the base, but its starting to branch up and picking up a deep red color. I will try and post a picture of it when I get home. I also got my frag from Henry

Nice colonys guys.
I have a small peice that I practicaly lost but have grown back from a tiny spot. Ive heard most lose the colors on these.I think Gary mentioned a "warmer spectrum" to maintain its color.

copperband got beat up by mr yellow tang and was removed. I was supposed to get a bunch of berghia back in jan but I guess that fell apart so I just got a file fish that so far has proven to to love mysis and hate aptaisia haha. but we will see that spots hard to hit with aptaisia x as its between a ton of corals

This was approximately what mine looked like when I got it 11 months ago. I had 5 chips this size. I glued 3 to a rock, and traded 2.

Here is what it looks like today. It's in a tough spot to photograph. Most of it's growth is directly toward the back along this piece of LR. It's probably 2.5" x 5".

i'm going to start loaning Timmy Filefish out to you guys....3 days....the frickin' amazon forest of aips was gone.
