Holey Cow!
You WERE infested...................... Ill never complain about my lil mini Vermetids ever again.....................

This right, all started with a couple of these suckers
They robbed my corals all the calcium and alkalinity
Soon I will re- vacuum the sump and scrape all the visible sign of them
I have to mention that
I poured 4 gallons of hot water through the overflow
So I cooked whatever was growing in there and in the sump

I siphoned out as much as I could but they were out of control, so I decided to pull the plug ..

Sweet Jesus.. i thought I'm plagued but this is higher level. If I may ask what is the cfurrent situation with your tank,, are you finally free of them?

I need to go ahead and act now or it will be to late for anything but starting over.. :(

they are at all rockscape, overflow, walls , even in sump...

Mario, I had the same level of infestations,
Do it now it's already too late...
I should have done long time ago. But I kept procrastinate... this week end,I'm going to pour another bucket of hot water down the overflow, and vacuum the sump

It is so frustrating.. what makes the things really painfull to me that I had them over the years in different aquariums but allways here and there big ones and the never ever flourished to these plague proportions...so I was pleased when I noted them in this setup,, didnt see it coming

I stumbled over this statement on third page of this topic and it got me intrigued

What I have noticed is that FLOW helps control their numbers. IE FAST FLOW. I run my MP10's at around 85% on CONSTANT in my 47G. It seems like they cannot feed properly using those tiny threads in fast flow. The fast flow breaks up their threads which they catch food particles on.

They are restricted to the slow flow areas. I have a bare bottom tank so I am able to run lots of water flow.
.

gluing them makes no sense to me when things got out of hands as they have so action plan I had in minds involves

1. Im syphoning the sand our of my 120g at water changes.. I'll deall with accumulated detritus from rocks aftewards.. than we will do some unseen flow

2. will try to starve them our by different " how to make an nutrient poor aqauarium " strategies..

3. after first two successfully implemented I'll introduce 20 bumblee snails, and keep em hungry.. no detritus or other food source for them.

4. clean up overflow, plumbing and sump with hot water

that do you guys think?

Well I tried everything even the toby puffer and bumblebees
But nothing worked

This is an official thread revival...

I noticed a few but it was not an issue, until I moved a mushroom rock near some other corals and noticed the sizable nets they were casting. I added 10 bumblebee snails to my 125 and am curious, did they make any difference to you after you posted? The people that I know, say it's a long term solution. I put the plyers and screw driver to a few but realize that if a few are visible, there are bound to be more. I've subsequently seen reports of plagues and I do not want to get to that point. Any advice is appreciated, especially in regards to the bumble bee snail and the amount I should have in my tank.

Sorry man,
I tried everything till I had enough and I bleached everything has been a few years now and all is good,
At that time I spent so much money trying to save the Reef but not luck... then as last resort I Nuked everything

Sad news and I am sorry. I could only see a scant few, mostly on one mushroom rock. Took it out and manually removed them and put a screwdriver to the others. I see no nets now and am putting faith in the bumblebees. I used to be in the aquatic business and know some credible reefers that say they will eventually eradicate them. Thankful to have spotted only a few.

Please keep us posted on the bumblebees... I bought 15 of them and none of them touched the vermitid snails.

Had a major outbreak myself. I did a combination of bumble bee snails, UV, less feeding, and manual removal. I still have some, but I would say 80% are gone now.

How long did it take for your methods to make a discernable difference? Not the manual removal, of course but the snails.
