well that info (the pics and description) would have been great to have the first time, yesterday, i asked you guys, thanks for helpng me then. All i know is what the guy from vertexaquaristik told me. Sadly it seems like this thread like soooo many others are based more on bashing each other annonymously via a message board. No real effor is made to help eachother and no real helpful information is passed around. Let alone true information. this is exactly why i hate to post or read on RC, aside from some people that like myself, that are looking with trust for someone with experiance to step up and help with a little advice, and others that truly try to offer some help, i.e. MOJO, everyone else on here that just bashes or undercuts or waits for just the right time to step on others, you all ruin these boards. njcvskl'akjfdkl;ajfl;asfjklafjkl;afjkla;fjakl;jkfakl;jkfakl;jkfklajfkl;ajfklajkfkl;ajfkla;jfkla;jfkla;jfkl;ajkfkla;jfkla;jfl;aknfcosdajnc9pquienca9pjljfhjio[qwefndklchoi[!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mike you will love these skimmers, they are awesome skimmers for the price, i wouldn't of bought another one if i didn't like them. i make more than enough money to buy any brand skimmer but i just can't see spending a grand on skimmer when i can spend 280 on a skimmer that kicks butt. Save money on skimmer and more money for corals :)

Maybe you should read the thread from the beginning, And you would see there is lots of good info and many people that have helped others here on RC and this thread. Seems you don't contribute much in the way of anything positive, Just want to complain about others and what they have or have not done for you. With 15 posts you, IMO got some nerve ragging about anyone on this thread since no one has forced you to be here in the first place. If you want help Read what others have already found out about the skimmer you have just bought. I am one of those that owned an IN250 and IMO they have Pump Issues and it is well documented on this thread, And the solution that we found is also on this thread. So i say help yourself or look elsewhere
for what we already know,Your choice but the people here are not the bad guy's.
Have a great day

very well put bill, really have to read from begining to learn all the qwerks with these skimmers i found a few with gen 1 models. I gotta go back and do some more reading myself so i can see what kinda a pump to use on my new vertex 180. Does tunze make a hydro foamer pump that can drive a vertex 180 skimmer bill.

I would think the smaller Hydrofoamer would work on that body, It's the same one that's on my I-Tech and they are similar in size?
That is something you would just have to try and see how it does.

yeah, i can make it fit easily being i'm a machinist i can machine an adapter to make any pump fit. thanks bill have to check into it

installed my new in-100 the other night and let it run, couple things conerning me

there is a lot of pvc parts that i couldn't figure out where they go exactly

second, my water level won't even rise to the lower lack ring under the collection cup

other than that it is very very quiet, and seems to produce a much finer bubble stack than my previous octo, but at this point I can't se it possibly skimming anything

a link with picture directions would help, as well as a perfect out of box setup for a gen 3

once you get it together and put in sump you can turn the wedge pipe(riser pipe) until bubble move up neck. You will have to keep an eye on it cause it can take a week or two for skimmer to break in and than it will really put out some nasty foam and then you will have to turn pipe more to open side. Not sure about yours my directions say needs to be in 6-8 inches of water. Also skimmer compartment has to have a constant water level were skimmer is sitting.

thats exactly how mine looks assembled, I didn't use the t junction, or the other small pieces of pipe that came with it, the directions really didn't make sense, as it said to use the elbow to connect the pump, but the only way i could get it to work was plugging the pump straight in on its side. I have the riser open all the way right now, if I close it that will raise the water level? I thought that was backwards

also I used the longer airline tubing, as I thought the big one was for the drain, since the smaller one didn't seem to fit it at all

well you have to use t junction cause that is were you adjust your water flow thru your skimmer, these don't flow out top of pvc like older style skimmers. Longer airline tube is for airline and other is for drain.

there is an extra t thats what im saying, the riser tube already has an opening for the water to come out

and still after moving water level to closed, my water level will not raise
