VERTEX Skimmers

Jeremy,

Prior posts that I have read about the Vertex IN-80 stated that this model was not included in the resent Gen2 modifcations. Your website seems to have an IN-80 Gen2 model listed for sale.

Could you please provide some clarification.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

There technically is not a GenII IN80. The pump and bubble plate stayed the same on these. We'll get the site updated on that.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Dimensions on VX-IN100

Dimensions on VX-IN100

Is site states that the skimmer base is 8"x10" and I only have 7 1/4" to work with. Is this skimmer really 8" wide, the diameter is only 6" so what takes up the extra two inches of width?

Thanks,
John

I will play around with one tomorrow morning to see if you can get it to work. Do you have plenty of room the other way, and are just pushing it at the 7.25" mark?

I think you'll be able to make it work, setting it at an angle, but I will confirm just to be sure.

Hi John.... Unfortunately it will not work for you. You could get the IN-80 to fit, but not matter how you turn the IN-100 and move it around, it's just not going to fit in an area of 7.25". Sorry it wouldn't work out for you.

Thanks,
Jeremy

so you are sure the IN-80 will work? I will place my order then. It should be plenty of skimming power for my 40g of total water volume.

Thanks,
John

It will work, however once you get it give me a call and I'll explain to you which piece of pvc connector you'll need to cut off just a little bit. It's very easy to do, and if you can trim off about an inch and a half of a pvc pipe you'll be just fine.

Vertex Skimmer Recomendation?

Vertex Skimmer Recomendation?

Jeremy,
What Vertex would you recomend for my system?
120g main dislplay, 40 gallon sump and refugium. Heavily stocked with SPS. Total water volume 120 gallons.
Many thanks, Eric

Agreed, the 180 or 250 would be the way to go since it's all sps. If you really had the space the 280 wouldn't be a bad option either since you are heavily stocked.

Jeremy, I'm not trying to be a pest but did you get the air draw numbers on the vertex 250? Also is the air intake for the venturi !/4 inch?

Pest!
BTW, I was looking at 280! ;)

Hey Jeremy, I purchased a 1st gen IN-100 from ya'll back in Dec. and it's been doin awesome, but it has gotten really noisy lately and i'm afraid it's the impellar or the pump- what would you recommend? I'm not fishing for free-bies, just want to plan for the future- and if need be replace the pump or impellar whatever you recommend. Thanks for your time

Gen II IN 180

Gen II IN 180

I just recieved the new skimmer. The larger version didn't fit in my sump.
How much water do you run the IN 180 in? Any other thoughts to get maximum performance out of it? Thanks in advance

i run my vertex 180 in 8 inches of water, and keep outflow tube opening atleast half way out of water so there will be no back pressure from air inside.
