Wrapping up my 2 week tour of Pinas. Did not get a chance to see any coral reefs cause we were busy visiting family. The nicest beach we went to was in Unisan, Quezon. Biggest disappointment was the garbage. You said the tourists were ruining the reefs but what I saw was the local's disgard for littering. People would spend the day at the beach and leave their garbage. I actually spent the morning raking the sand and swimming after plastic bags in the ocean. Problem is the is no where to put garbage so it gets thrown into a pile and burned or buried in the sand. Otherwise, We had fun!

heya! nice to hear you had a blast with your visit here in PH. i think you may have gotten me wrong, i said "tourists throwing trash everywhere" not "tourists ruining the reef" :) but yes, locals alike are ruining the beaches. in some areas locals actually do more damage than tourists :(

aurora, quezon has some of the nicest beaches here in luzon ... you shouldve gone scuba diving :)

i also was in the pi from 12/17 through 1/3 and spent a good part of it in manila around makati/mandaluyong and a few days in tondo(where my fam is from).
was able to visit boracay again but wasnt motivated to go snorkeling there as i wasnt too impressed with the reefs when i checked it out 6 years ago.
unfortunately, with xmas and new years i didnt have much time to venture off to check out some of the reefs on luzon like in batangas. will reserve that for another trip i have planned this dec. the entire time i was in manila i totally forgot i had a reef tank at home and enjoyed the other scenery. LOL

whoa! who wouldve known, i have some folks in tondo too ... we're right at the heart of Bato St., Gagalangin, Tondo :) Boracay isnt actually a place to snorkel, if you want to, you should checkout batangas particularly in anilao. there's kilometers upon kilometers of thriving marine life to see :) you'll enjoy it there, I promise ... and its really a cheap place to visit ... $30-$50/day gets you 3 meals a day and a nice place to stay :)

Video on RB off some fish and coral of the PI. :)

i looked on maps and thats not too far from where we stayed at. actually on a prior trip been to annilao and loved it. plenty of acros, anemones that i was in heaven. i also went to nusugbu but didnt manage to snorkel there as we were too busy fending off the hustlers.
ill be back in dec so hopefully i can check out more reef friendly places.
btw, tank is looking pretty good.

How is the tank going Vic?

hey Andrew, its been quite sometime. ive sort of been neglecting my tank lately. just doing the daily dosings and regular wc and thats it. lost some colors, washed out on some. been very busy with work and some other stuffs as of late :(

Your tanks coming along very nice. Do you have an update?

hey, thanks buddy. sorry dont have an update. same corals, some have faded colors, some has lost their luster due to very busy schedules :(
