Here you go some rather large video's one reef crest mode and one pulse mode.

Pulse Mode

Reef Crest Mode

Don't mind the mess the Green goni is doing much better now that I'm not burning him under direct M/H
He took it really badly but he's coming back now in a more shady part of the tank.

Took long enough I had to rip them down because comcast only gives me 26 megs
Enjoy

Can someone help me out! My computer said "done" for the download but I can't see the vids.

BTW My WWD's came yesterday, but I'm missing the set and mode buttons on one of them....waiting for what to do next.

Nice wave!

I wonder if the random pump movement will have any affect on the pumps life?

It seems to be a gentle enough transition so I guess only time will tell.
\

its running way cooler on pulse than it did on 100% on all the time.

You should be able to select open or run.
They will play with windows media player or real player.

bummer about the set and mode buttons. I wonder how that was missed before shipping.

If I already have a tunze wavebox would the pulse setting be a proper match?

I dont know, if you allready have a Wave box and are getting a nice wave action, leave it and use the vortech on lagoon or reef crest for supplimental flow.

as per using both the wavebox and the vortech, I imagine it could cause problems the vortechs wave action is actually not a simple on off. the pulses are controlled by some kind of algorithm that builds the wave then lowers it a small amount. I think to avoid the wave gettting too large or crashing on itself and killing the wave. if you were to pair it with the wavebox you would probobly end up with both waves working against eachother.

do you understand that im sorry i just cant seem to explain it better.

No that makes perfect sense. I didn't understand that pulse mode was for creating a wave but I was just readin the eco tech forum and realized this. I think reef crest for supplimental is what I'll be using. Or maybe I'll tinker around with random. My vortech is showing up tomorrow but my 120 isn't even filled yet. I just moved to Texas from Cali and all my corals are sitting in a rubbermaid with a tunze 6025 until my tank stand is built.

I'll have to work on the pulse mode again tonight.
It may be difficult to get the wave going with the vortech on the back of a 1/2 circle.

might take longer to tune in and might not be super effective on a tank that size you might need two of them to get a wave

Just to chime in.....

I just put ONE pump in my 60 cube about 3/4 of the way up the side with a 5 inch sand bed and i can run this thing at any mode, and any speed pulse and i do not have an issue with ANY sand moving. Even the undertow isn't picking up sand.

THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!!

I don't know if i like Reef Crest Mode, or Pulse better though. Even on Reef Crest Mode, i get some random waves, and i still get a more consistent high flow throughout the tank. On Pulse, i get killer wave action, but the flow is very in consistent. Both are great i'm sure, but the choice is killing me.

Bottom line is, ... REPLACE ALL PUMPS AND POWERHEADS WITH VORTECH's!!!

Thanks. Got my son to save/run the vids. It looks great.
Hope to get mine up and running soon. Tim (ecotech) is sending me the two missing buttons for the WWD - he thought he might have missed one - I was the lucky one.lol.

summer6-

The envelope should arrive tomorrow or Saturday, but in the mean time there's no fear in using it without the buttons. They'll just snap in place once you receive them

Tim

can you tell me if ecotech has sent pumps to aquacave yet?

To many choices now :) I can't decide between pulse, reef crest.

I think with my setup reef crest may be the best since the flow gets strong enough to make it to the other side of the tank.
where the pulse doesn't quite make it.
And pulse doesn't have enough to make a decent wave with my setup.

No worries I see aquarium specialty has the Vortech MP40w
as a complete pump coming soon.
I may just have to get a second one :D

This may sound silly, since I've never had a wavebox in my 200 (7') but what kind of issues are there with this 2" water level differential? Is water going to slop up and over the sides? Does the wave mode change the flow rate going into the overflows?
Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up.:)

i'm wondering, is a actual WAVE more effective, or the same as the water moving back and forth on the surface? Maybe this is a wave, i'm not sure what to consider it. What i mean is with Reef Crest i get varied flow, and with pulse i can see my anemone actually shifting from side to side, but at a fairly fast rate. I like the look of the pulse in the water, but what is more effective as far as what the livestock would prefer. Are the pulses going to effect them in a negative way seeing as though i have to have mine set fairly fast?

I am really interested in these pumps, but would I need to get 2 of the pumps for a 180. It looks awesome but that is a lot of money. Right now I use 4 Koralias(2 #4's and 2" #2) and run them on a Seio controller. Its good but I still have a few dead spots.

Yeah I would think you would need two.
You could always add them one at a time and keep using some of your Koralias.

here are some pf the flow patterns for lagoon and reef crest.
