Vortech Modules

Not sure whats happening...

Not sure whats happening...

Just recevied my VorTech Controller. Thanks Progressive !

I'm running 5.0.4.2 on the PC program and upgraded firmware of Profilux to 5.04a.

I was able to push the VorTech-Controller_V101.mhx firmware file to the VorTech Controller.

However, when running the Profilux Control Program I have no options to "assign PAB devices".

Under FILE - I have Firmware Update PAB Device (which worked to update the Vortech Controller firmware, I saw lights on Vortech controller flash)

Under Extras (from menu at top of Profilux Control) - I have PAB Serial Number but that is greyed out.

When I view "System" from within the Profilux contoller program, the graphic shows my Profilux 3eX and Serial under that. Shouldnt the PAB show up as a graphic as well?.

Did I miss something?

you have to look on the controler to assign the PAB device, it's still not available in Profilux Control

I think I just did the firmware upgrade. But there was a posting where someone said I should be able to see this (confirm) this upgrade to 1.06 from the PLC Vortech Overview screen and I dont see it...

I'm showing the following:
Firmware VorTech Controller: 1.01
Firmware Controller Interface: 4.7
Firmware RF-Module: 1.02

No pumps assigned

Got it working...

I was afraid to assign the pump before confirming that the firmware was sucessful. But after assigning the pump the correct firmware version showed up.

Thanks

Im in the proecess of setting up my various modes of operation, wow... Nice that I can set different times of the day for various "built-in" VorTech modes.

Now my question is about the 'Feed Mode'...

It looks like the feed mode must be assigned a specific time/window. Is it possible to have the VorTech enter 'Feed Mode' when the feeding pause on the Profilux is selected rather than having specific times of day for feeding?

Thanks

I asked that same question in the Profilux forum. Mathias shared the following:

Matthias said:
1. the "native feed pause" can only be used when the VorTech-controller is in "ProfiLux-controlled mode" - we are thinking about a firmware extension to make this working in the EcoTech-modes also

As consistently as Profilux updates their software I am sure the functionality will be enabled soon.

I see what you mean, but I dont want to use Profilux-Mode because that will mean I have to specify a certain time everyday that I feed.

Looks like I will wait for firmware update - Please :)

So far this is really great. I now have total control over my tank current throught the day; so things are really calm at night, begin to pickup (lagoon mode) in the early am, mid morning we get into the random reefcrest, then spend the rest of the day using nutrient transport creating a nice wave in the tank, and then reverse the pattern. Way cool... I hope the corals like the new toy as much as I do...

I think you have it wrong. If the controller in in profilux controlled mode it will go into feed pause. So maybe you just have to make up your own flow patterns??? I can't wait to get mine and play with it.

Please feel free to post screen shots of your set ups, always good for others to see what everyone else is doing :)

Rostato -

Yes if the VorTech is set to "Profilux Control" and you press the ESC button then the EchoTech pump will go into feed mode (if you've set that up under the PUMP menu on Profilux). However, within the VorTech Overview setup when you set a given pump to Profilux Control you must set a time period and then the EchoTech can be controlled like other pumps controlled by the Profilux.

However, fast changing patterns like those directly programmed (Random Reefcrest, Neutrient, etc) into the EchoTech pumps is not obtainable in this fashion (I believe its due to the wireless controller speed ?)

So we need the Profilux to tell the VorTech/Echotech stuff to go into feed mode when the ESC is pressed not at specific times of day.

Screen captures - Will try when I get home tonight

I realy do love this thing and the support we get, just have this little thing bugging me :)

I see, I didn't even think about wireless performance. That should make things interesting. I was really looking forward to making my own flow patterns, but maybe that will not be attainable. :worried:

Honestly, I've not tried to make my own patters, I like what comes with the EchoTech stuff. But in the VorTech manual there is mention of not being able to 'switch' things quickly which to me would imply not being able to create a Random Reef Crest or Nutrient Transport type flow directly with the Profilux. Again... I've not tried to do this either... IF that is possible, then YES the use of "Profilux Control" and Feed Pause would work just fine.

Anyone been able to create (simulate) the EchoTech flow patterns directly with the Profilux?

I woul dbe willing to bet the only thing I will no tbe able to do it create a wave pattern with the profilux control mode. But, only time will tell. I am still waiting for my unit to be shipped.

I believe what you are saying is that the Profilux Control Software on your PC does not show the VorTech module, is this correct?

I had to do the following:
1) Install lastest Software on PC
2) Install latest firmware on Profilux
3) Attach VorTech controller
4) Using Profilux Contol software pushed firmware to Vortech (PAB Device)
5) Use menu on Profilx controller to activate the Vortech module
6) Disconnect and reconnect Profilux Control software --- My Vortech controller didnt show up until I did the Discoonect and Reconnect

i have done all that...the pf3 sees the module...

i updated the module from the software via pab ok

i assigned it in pab

but software still wont see it..

uninstalled and reinstalled software same problem...

Is it your pumps that are not displayed or the VorTech module itself? When you have the Proflix Control Software open, on the right side do you see the "VorTech Overiew" shown in posts above?
