So I finally went out and go myself a Vortech and it arrives tomorrow. I was just wondering what setting everyone put theirs at and for how long.

any and all input is great!

Thanks,
Joradn

most of tge time i run mine in reefcrest at 80%, but once or twice a week i'll switch over to nutrient export mode at 80-100% for a couple of hours just to stir things up.

best run mode depends on many factors

best run mode depends on many factors

each application is different.

One constant should be the creation of a gyre.
A gyre that reverses would be even better.

I think that reefcrest is the most appealing to me because my fish swim most naturally (to my eye). I am running the tidal swell mode right now to accomodate the torches.

Thanks for all the input!

I have a 120 gallon (4x2x2) tank and I was wondering where everyone thought the ideal loctaion for one of these bad boys would be. Its not a reef ready tank, but the over flow is over on one side. Should I....

Put it on the back wall?
Put it on the side wall opposite the over flow?
Put it on the side wall, same side of the over flow?

Its a vrotech mp 40 btw. I aslo have some korillia 3's and 4's that are currently in the tank. so if you could help me out with those loctaions too.

Thanks for all and any of the input.

I'd place it on the opposite end of the overflow on the side wall. The back wall would stunt its performance because you would be missing out on the spread of it. Flow mode, height and left/right orientation are up to you. There is no correct setting for these pumps, that is why there are multiple modes. Just cycle through the modes and play with it until you get the flow you like, then open the manual and figure out what setting you are using :bounce3:.

I'd place the Koralia 4 on the opposite side wall blowing directly at your vortech. The others I would try my best to hit any dead spots in your rock work with.

To answer your question - I am using two MP40's anti-sync on long pulse mode.
