Warner Marine Now Has A Pellet Product

I would think rinsing them thoroughly in RO/DI then letting them air dry before storing them in a zip-lock bag would be appropriate. When I bought mine they were dry and in a sealed plastic bag. That's how I would re-store them if I had too. You would just have to go through the seeding period again after putting them back online.

I'd agree with this.

Sounds right. Did you have success running Eckobak?

TIA

Indeed, NO3 and PO4 remain undetectable. I'm slowly getting to the point of removing the last of the GFO from my system. down to less than 2 cups for a 220g system. Probably over the next few weeks it will be gone, fingers crossed, and I'll be only using the ecoBAK for nutrient export. I'm actually out of GFO at the moment so maybe if I'm brave enough I won't order any more. :)

Haven't tried the pellets yet. I plan on regenerating my GFO in the next week or two.

C'mon, you know you wanna. No pressure though.

Yea I definetly want to try out the pellets. But first I'm goning to get a large enough reactor up and running plus I would like to get my Po4 lower. Just checked and it's at .19 right now, down from .69 so I have a ways to go yet. Also would like to buy large amount of pellets to save as much as possible on them. Who sells large quanities like I will need, 2 liters or so?

Thanks

I think TBaquatics has the cheapest price but many places will price match like Premium Aquatics.
Bill:thumbsup:

I would rinse and air-dry the pellets, but I wouldn't put them into a sealed bag, as they might mold, due to some remaining water. I'd just store them in a bag, unsealed.

day 25 of Ecobak and not much to report. i started with 250 ml of the pellets and zero PO4, NO3. my system is about 80 gals. one thing is i clean the glass less. i havent had any problem with the pellets keep tumbling. most of corals (sps) look the same. i have tried to feed the fish and corals more, Aminos, oysterfeast, rods food. still running GFO in another reactor, but i have cut down on the amount. havent seen any algae or bacteria pop up, and i never had algae before ecobak. i guess am going to just keep running them.

I'm seeing some higher ALK levels as well...though in part because my Ca reactor was running too high. I made the mistake of replacing my GFO and got an initial upset of the balance of bacterial flora...meaning some diatoms and cyano. Took the gfo offline and will let the eco do it's job as intended.

Going on a month of Eco-Bak and by far they are the best pellet product I have used thus far. Cyano has definitely cut back quite a bit, hardly any hair algae, minor bryopsis on a Tunze pump. Brown turf algae is gone and no brown slime. I am still running GFO though. I am real nervous to completely remove GFO. I have to replenish it this week but will be adding less of it. Within the next month I plan on taking the GFO reactor off line. My SPS growth is amazing and color is great. In addition to the pellets, I also utilize Zeo AA, Pohl's Xtra, Zeobac, Zeo Snow.

i did a big mistake in leaving the reactor sit for 3 weeks, the pellets were starting to turn grey.
in all the years ive kept marine fish ive never smelt anything as bad as this, and believe me ive smelt some rotten stuff,it was actually worse than sulfar. actually while i was washing the reactor i was getting a headache.

This is something very interesting, I had the same smell and color when I was experimenting with rice, but with u getting this with pellets, and considering the fact that u get the same sulphur smell when u disturb a mature DSB, I think the smell and color are not from rice or the pellets, but from the bacteria

I need to run about 2 litres of the pellets. What would be a good choice of reactor to run a large amount of pellets?

Thanks in Advance

take a look at super reef octopus. i like the cone plate at the bottom. i modded my reactor and the cone plate at bottom makes the pellets tumble better with less flow. i havent used a SRO brand, but the design is better.

I picked up a TLF KW 300 (kalk stirrer). It has the curved bottom, but is not pressurized which may keep the flow to low (or perhaps it could be pressurized. But for a small operation it might work well for only $65. I expect it would only be good for about 1/2 liter.
