Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Wazzel, I'm sitting scratching my head and wondering how all of these colonies fit in your 60 Excited the tank is getting set up!

They were fighting for space in the 60. I had to keep trimming to keep the peace.

Mark your setup is looking great so far. What skimmer did you have in your 60 and are you upgrading? Keep the pics coming!

Thanks, Reef Octo 150 Classic. It is the one I am using on the 120 right now. Yes I plan on upgrading. The top contender with now is the RLSS DB8i. Once I sell a few things I no longer need I will have the cash to get the skimmer.

Tank looks amazing! Maybe I missed it but what did you end up going with? Kalk, 2 part or calcium reactor? Whatever your doing keep it up. Can't wait to see some more pics.

I was using 2 part and kalk on the 60. Will do the same on the 120 initially.

I scored a used vertex omega 180i at a good price today. Installed it this evening. My corals are not looking any worse this evening. Fingers crossed.

Nice skimmer. Curious to know how it performs.
It's almost impossible to do a tank tear down and transfer without casualties.. I hope you won't lose too much.
Your 120 looks packed even though the corals came out of a tank half the size! It's always amazing to see the colonies that have grown together in a tight spot once they have a bit of extra space.
Good luck!
By the way, how are the quads after your sprint?

Yeah it is cool how corals grow in tight spaces.

Legs are fine. It was 97F during the run and I tanked. My run time sucked.

Those vertex skimmers are work horses from what I have read, sorry to hear about the initial troubles, hope it turns the corner soon for you.

Looking forward to see how this will develop, considering your 60 though, I doubt it will be anything short of stunning.

Seems to be working already. There was gunk in the neck when I checked on it this morning. It was missing a foot so I have some temporary feet until I get proper replacements. I figured the transfer would have a casualty or two. Hopefully it will not be any of the nicer pieces. Regardless I am not adding anything. My goal has always been larger colonies over seeing how many I can cram in the tank.

I hope this one does as well as the 60. Thanks for the encouragement.

I missed the transfer. Excellent news, hopefully things go smooth in this new tank!

I hope so too. I suspect there will be a month or so of gremlins to chase, but that was to be expected.

My pink tabe (AKA Ms Scarlet) has bit the dust. The highlighter looks like it is going to pull through. It has PE and the tissue is no longer receding. I will end up with approx 20% of what it was, but I will still have it. The other pieces that were receding seem to be stabilizing. Most all the colonies are starting to show some PE, which is encouraging. The cloudiness is finally going away. Still keeping my hands off corals unless I have to pick something up. I am not even willing to glue or epoxy anything just yet.

Full tank and sump picture. It is clearing up nicely.

Nice progress on the tank Wazzel. Just a quick lesson on the skimmer. Turn the wedge pipe open untill the fine bubbles are just starting to get bigger 1 inch above where the body starts to taper. It seems really low but thats where mine worked the best.

Thanks for the comments and suggestion. I have it set at the joint where you take the cup off. That seems to be where I run all my skimmers. I am going to see how it does how it is now.

Looks like I am going to loose another acro. It took a beating when it came out the 60 causing it to get broken into 4 pieces. 3 of those pieces are already gone and the last one is looking bad. If all I loose is 2 out of 40 something corals I think it could be considered a successful move.

Always sucks losing corals but I would agree with your benchmark for a successful move.

I know it has only been a week, but it needs more fish. A pair of swallowtail angles will happen, probably bellus. I think 12 or so fish would be good. The tank currently has 7.

2 yellow tangs
1 kole tang
1 coral beauty angle
1 mandarin dragonet
2 ocellaris clowns

The swallowtails will get me to 9 so what should the other 3 or so be?
