Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Have you been able to check par since the transfer? Has there been any complications with the transfer besides getting the alk dialed in?

I have not, my meter is on loan right now. No other complications. I still need to secure corals to rocks so things get knocked off from time to time. Because of how rough some things look I have been holding off as a precaution.

I have followed your tank because I saw it as an example of what can be done with acros, LEDs, and BB. That is what my tank has become and I am still getting it dialed in.

I hope it has been beneficial. With the last I was lucky that I never had a big obstacle to over come. The tank got red bugs early on, but that is a minor issue on the scale of reef problems.

It still find it had to believe most of this stuff was in a 60 cube. I have a baseball sized stylo I have yet to find a home for. It may get put on a large ceramic disk and left on the tank bottom.

Well here we are two weeks past transfer. Things seem to be going well. One of the corals I wrote off is still hanging on. It has about 1/2" of flesh on one little piece. Today i noticed the polyps are starting to extend. I might get away with only loosing one piece after all. The only issues I am dealing with right now is getting the Alk dialed back in.

Looks great! Glad to hear the move was such a success.

Thanks

My wife asked if I could turn the lightning feature back on for her. She thinks it is kind of neat.

I've never seen the lightning feature done...could you do a short video of it?

Glad most of your stuff has survived the transfer Mark.

Three weeks past transfer and things are doing well. Still chasing my alk. It bounced from 7 to 12 last week. I changed my dosing and it had dropped back down to 10 by Wednesday. I have not tested yet today.

Corals are recovering nicely. I few pieces that were light deprived are starting to have color return. It is much more noticeable when I am near the end of my light cycle and only have the blue on. The pseudo-actinic lighting makes the not yet visible colors show up. It have been fun watching them come back. The pieces that I had over lit are getting darker by the day. My GARF bonsai if back to all purple and my miyagi tort has darkened several shades closer to what color is expected. All of my acans are looking sexy now that they have darkened. I have not experienced any further coral losses.

I think having the lights higher up and a low flat aqua scape is helping some on the color issues. Not sure how hard I am going to push the lights this time around. It looks like the GARF bonsai is going to be the canary. In the 60 it was the first coral to lighten when over lit. Once I get my par meter back I am going to actually map out the tank and work on setting the lights.

I got growth! Only three weeks in and things are going again. Super cool. My big tort had grown against the overflow in the 60 and started to encrust. Today I noticed color on the back side of the "puddle"

I spoke with my LFS about getting my next fish. He does an in store qt and some other things that I like. I got him going after a pair of swallowtail angels and a desjardini tang. I think I am going to skip the copper banded butterfly and opt for a few zoathids, just to do something different.

Here we are 4 weeks post transfer. Things continue to be looking better. The alk levels are starting to fall back in line. Ca is a bit higher than I like to run it, but it is slowly falling back in line also. I have started to epoxy pieces in place. Things have looked stable enough that I felt comfortable enough to introduce epoxy into the tank. Colors continue to get better. The LEDs are about half way through the acclimation period back to the levels I ran on the 60. The GARF bonsai is still all purple so I am going to let the acclimation continue.

There are somethings I still need to finish. My lid is 1-3 weeks out and I still need to deal with my chords, transformers and controllers. I have a plan, just need to get it done.

I have a bad itch to get something for the tank. My LFS will be getting me a pair of swallowtail angles and a desjardini tang. Not sure on the time frame but a few weeks to wait in not a big deal. My LFS makes clam orders when he has enough interest. I am on the list for a blue T Max. There is no room in the tank for any more SPS if I want to leave them room to grow like I want. I have considered a few more acan or some other non-encrusting lps. I might just go get a second cleaner shrimp so I can scratch the itch. The little fish I want to get will wait until after the lid is in and the other fish have been added. This tank will have a few zoas on the bottom. Going to disguise the bare bottom a little. I have three that were stashed in the frag tank. Probably going to get one or two others.

Sorry no pics, but things are really not that different than the last pic and I just finished up epoxying and cleaning the tank so it is a bit cloudy.
