Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Thanks guys. Ordered my independently switched power strips and built the shelf to mount them, power supplies and controllers today. Need to wait to mount until the power strips come in since it will be behind my tank, all the mounting hardware needs to be installed before the shelf.

Five weeks and all is well. I have noticed some corals I removed from rocks are starting to encrust in their new homes. Colors continue to improve. No big visual changes. I still have not added any new livestock.

Here is a 5 week FTS, nothing has really changed visually.

it's settling down nicely mark:thumbsup:
Do your YT's fight?
Will you let the bottom glass get covered from coraline algea?

Thanks. I have not seen them fight. One is significantly bigger than the other so I think the pecking order was sorted without if getting to fighting. I have plans to put some zoanthids on the bottom this time, along with the acans and euphillia from the last tank. There are three small colonies on the bottom now and I am getting two more color morphs next week from a local reefer. I might get a large LPS like a plate or scrolly also, just for fun. Once the favia recovers from its encounter with the spatula I am selling it off. I just do not feel like dealing with having to remove it again at some point down the line. A local guy is going to take it, just want to make sure it is in good shape before I hand it over.

I regretted soooo much trying to place zoanthus on the bottom glass, mark:(
It seems the only thing they did was to offer detritus the best shelter ever:p
Man the stuff that gathered between their heads was unbelievable.
I was BB so i could have an easy time cleaning the tank and at the same time zoanthus made that hard.
They were clean only when they got much flow but they weren't happy getting strong flow.
Some of them even died:(
I guess acans like you said, favias, encrusting montis etc might be a better choice.
Just my 02 cents bud,not trying to tell you what to do:beer:

I have some concerns about them making things more difficult. If I get aggravated I will scrape them off and sell. I prefer non-encrusting LPS so I can move them out if I need to.

Had the same experience with zoa, pali, and GSP. They all help a lot of detritus on the BB. The Pali were the biggest problem. When I would syphon the detritus, it would tee them off and they would dump toxins in the water and affect other corals.

Fortunately they all peel off a BB very easily with a glass cleaning blade.

I like having clams in the tank.

They add a different coloration to the tank.
They add a focal point to the tank that is not SPS.
They utilize nitrates, (not enough to worry about to be honest, but they still use it).

My kids are smaller/younger than yours, so they still find the "Giant Clam" thing interesting and exciting.

ETA - I also like angelfish which can make clams difficult. Currently I have a 120 with a single small blue Squamosa clam and a small Regal and a small flame angel. I keep them very well fed with the intent of minimizing the nipping tendencies. So far it's worked for the past 3 months...which is nothing in terms of longevity.

I already have 2 clams, a black T Max and a dersa. I really want a blue T Max. My coral beauty is behaved so far. My tank gets fed well so I suspect that helps.

That's a good looking acro....hopefully it does well for you. I'd love to see pictures of it when you get it.

Do people actually pay $350 for 1" of this acro? It is nice looking, but that is insane. I am getting mine for cheap.

6 week FTS. I exchanged the big ugly frag rack for a smaller not as ugly frag rack, added some critters and did a little rearranging.
