Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Thanks for the idea. Not having a garage now makes it hard to take advantage of short windows of time. This weekend is now out since things have come up. Bummer.

Hey look, progress. Not to bad for an afternoon.

Thanks Matt. I got the rest of the legs cut and prepared. Also got the wood for the back. I ran out of light. Maybe tomorrow.

You warm weather folks make me sick! :)

Nice work, keep up the progress because I really want to see this tank start.

It was a really nice day to be working outside. My son split fire wood all afternoon. It was in the low 70's with a breeze.

Day two progress Framing done. Not sure if I will get to work on it next week end. I am playing at fais do-do on Saturday.

These last postings have been amazing to learn a lot. Thank you guys for sharing all that info on the stands building.

I can't wait to see that new tank.

Cheers
Daniel

Well went to get some 1/2" oak plywood today and could not find any. Need to regroup. Might have to make a run to another town to get wood.

If you're going to paint, I'd suggest maple or poplar veneer-core plywood. The closed-pore structure gives you a much better paint surface, and it's usually priced about the same as other hardwoods such as oak. Baltic birch is another option, though it does have some grain structure as opposed to maple or poplar.

Today's progress. I decided to go with 1/4" oak plywood and oak boards for trim. Still have to do some clean up work, add a pice of trim under the shelf and probably round the upper edge of the shelf.

Looking very well !!!

Thanks guys. The shelf board on the right needs to be replaced, it split almost the entire length. I am going to use another narrow (2.5 x 0.75) board for the trim under the shelf. Wife and I decided to stay with the simple look. I think I am going to use the same boards to frame the doors. I kept the drops to make panels for the doors.

We decided we want a dark stain with no red, not sure what one to use yet.

This weekend looks busy with band stuff for kids, so probably going to be a while before I can make more progress.

I think eventually I am going to swap to a calcium reactor. I burn through a lot of 2-part on my 60+20 system. If it can save me money down the road I will make the swap.

Any reason not to use Kalk to offset some of the usage?

I do now and it offsets some. It would probably do more, but I get half my evaporation make up from the dosing. It might work out better on the 120 since it will have more evap. Will just have to see once it gets going.
