Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

The 60 is packed and the 20 frag tank has min-colonies in it now. All the frags I started stashing once I decided I was going to upgrade have really taken off. Some of them have actually been fragged they got so big.

Well, I was supposed to be in Disney with the rest of my family this week, but something came up that required me to stay home. I already had the vacation booked and was close to my accrual limit so I worked on my tank stand.

Replaced the split board, added the trim piece, filled all the holes, made the doors and sanded it all down for stain. Probably going to stain it tomorrow.

I got these old table tops I use to work on. Here is a door being assembled.

That is looking really good and very solid Mark! Nice work! It's rewarding being able to build it yourself, and you can't beat that quality:)

Very nice !!!

Seen ypur pictures, I miss the sun and the good weather you have. Here we are like in a freezer and with snow.....but much less than past winter.

I am following your thread learning from your new tank built.

Thanks. I am in shorts and bare feet today doing the staining.

Here is today's progress. One coat of dark walnut stain. Need to deice if I want it darker and what sheen on the poly. The inside is going to be white. I want to get the outside stained and sealed first. I am kind of a messy painter and did not want to get any paint on what I wanted to stain. Easy enough to wipe paint off poly.

Looks really good!
I like the extra space for the plumbing to come down.
Any plans for any kind of liner on the bottom?

And fwiw, i loved switching from dosing to a CaRx. So much better once you get it dialed in.

Thanks Dennis. I had not planned for a liner. I figured a couple of coats of weather proof paint and calking the seams would hold any minor spills.

Still on the fence for the CaRx. Talked to many people that switched over and have been happy. Kind of has me leaning that way.

I switched over in December and it's been rock solid for me. That being said, I use a peristaltic pump to pull the effluent and a CarbonDoser electronic regulator to get that effect. Without those two items you just need more vigilance and maintenance.

It's all up to personal preference so I will speak from mine. I would keep staining until the grain blended better, I like a more subtle wood grain and I love the dark wood.

I am going to give it a second coat of stain. I like the grain contrast, but want it a bit darker.

The stand looks great. One day I would really like to build a stand for my 65 that gives me more room underneath. Great work on the documentation process! Can't wait to see the tank on it filled up!!

I like it darker also. Now on to sealing it. Thinking semi-gloss poly.

I have a ton of projects including my previous wood tank stand sealed with Tung oil. That gives an awesome soft glow to the wood and seals it nicely against water. It's like a shellac if you haven't used it before, goes on wet and the wood soakes it up, then it hardens and you buff it out.
