Wazzel's mostly SPS 60 Cube

I tried to relocate my favia to the frag tank over the weekend. Apparently they encrust. Any idea on how to remove it from the glass without cracking my tank? It is completely shaded by the orange cap.

I used a metal putty knife after my tank was empty. I was afraid to use it filled with water.

The colony popped right off.........on the flat sheet areas, the heads were smashed at where the knife contacted them but I was able to peel off 2" pieces.

I was planning to use a putty knife after I drained the tank, just in case. Was hoping for some trick to move it sooner.

I second a putty knife or perhaps a razor blade. There shouldn't be any danger to breaking the glass.

Putty knife or metal spatula for cooking.. Allows you some reach and is flexible enough that you wouldn't have to worry about cracking the glass..

Mark, can you post a picture. I am now curious to see why you are afraid of braking the tank glass.

Thanks
Daniel

It is hanging out under the orange cap.

Thanks !!!

A metal spatula, as it was suggested, has to brake it lose. The bottom glass is strong and because it is flat and smooth, the attachment (encrusting ) has to be weak.

Well, that is what I think......:lolspin:

I'm with Dan. A smooth and evenly distributed flat edge should pop it off without many issues. The coral may break a bit..

Very beautiful tanks! What camera do you use? Shooting technique can share? Why my photo very purple?

thanks, Most are just an iPhone 6, no processing. Some are with my Nikon D610, but that does not happen often.

Got one gyre in the tank. Running it real low for now. It is on the back wall blowing across the top of my corals.

Good to hear, hopefully it works out for you. I can't fit them in my goofy 150 gallon with corner overflows, too wide.

Yep, but the look of that doesn't strike me as very appealing. :D

The problem with two Mark's in the same thread.

It is not bad. Really no worse than any other power head I have ever used. It is going to look like a black stick no mater what. I am kind of wondering the reason for the bracket keeping the pump so far off the tank. It really looks like it could have been much shorter.

Feel like you are talking to yourself?

I work with another Mark. We even have the same initials. Makes approving documents and drawings interesting.

Not only is my first name common, so are my other two. You would be surprised at how many criminals share my name.

Ha, sounds confusing :)

I think when positioned at the top of the tank they blend right in, and the cord isn't all that noticeable. Turned sideways is a whole 'nother story.

I am going to the let the vortecs handle the mid tank flow. I need to reposition the one that shares a wall with the Gyre. They came in while I was at band practice so I did not get to mess with anything until 9:30 or so. Basically I just tossed it in the tank and set it on three dots for speed. Will clean it up on Saturday during tank maintenance.
