We Got Baby Clowns!!!!

I believe those are ocellaris based on the eyes and dorsal fin shape but I have never seen that color variant. Definitely worth breeding. I am very curious to find out what the offspring turn out to look like.

Captive bred fish? Looks like ocellaris/percula cross to me. Body shape and color say perc, but the eyes say ocellaris.

This was my thought too. The more brownish coloration on the female is typical of some ocellaris, but the black markings are definitely percula. The facial shapes on both of them look captive bred to me, so I agree that it is a distinct possibility.

Awesome...Congrats to you and how exciting. I like the parents. They are really neat looking. I had a pair of Discus one time that bred and put out a clutch. Very cool! Those babies are sweeeeet! Kudos to you and your Uncle.

cool looking baby fish. r those hair algae on the rock?

Yes it is hair algae in the mother tank... cant really seem to get it to go away, water changes, carbon, scrubbing the rocks, sea hare, snails, urchins, nothing will get it to go away, pull alot out by hand and scrub the rock it just comes back in the same spot, it doesnt really grow anywere else but exactly where its been haha i dont know if it has something to do with alot of sun light because of where it is or not .. but we've kind of just decided to stop attempting corals on that tank, its gonna be just for the clownfish now.. for them to lay their eggs.. we are just gonna continue to keep the parameters good for em.

the babies are in a 2.5 gallon tank right now, as soon as they get a little bigger we are moving them into a 10 gallon, we are gonna get another 2.5 gallon tank so we can get 2 clutches going on start on a cycle see if we cant start pumping out alot of babies :) haha if it gets to that point we'll then just setup the 2 Divder tanks we got, kinda like the tanks you see at your LFS .. bought em from a guy who bought em from petland whent hey went out of business.

So, majority of them went through metamorphasis, in this video i you can see that :) some still gotta go through it, also at the end video of the cube that the pair is in right next to the grow out tank.. ALSOOOO, 2nd batch of clowns in the 2nd 2.5 gallon tonight! :) i think for our first time ever trying this i think we got a good success rate for first timers... with about 15ish still alive.. cant wait to how they bar up though and color up :)

Just thought id give an update on em, they are doing pretty well :) getting nice a fat and big, we got about 15, with 2 of them who still need to go through metamorphasis

the 2nd batch had a huge die off rate though, not sure why.. we did everything exactly how we did the first batch... so far out of the second batch we only got about 6-10 survivors.... and started out with atleast 30+ ... and lost most in the first 2 days

here's pictures of the 1st batch and how they are growing up to be big and strong :P

my first impression that the parents are occy. i have seen some occy with some black, but not as much as those 2. they are beautiful and i am jealous. i wish i had them. hehe

plus the babies are growing fast. perc babies are slow growers.

We feed them live brine shrimp, and we also crush up to a fine dust Spectrum Thera a, which we actually did this before they even went through metamorphasis, which was suprising they took to the crushed up pellets so fast, and as far as feeding, we kind of just keep the brine shrimp in there for them to eat on when they want, and when we feel its getting low we replenish more into their tank, and maybe put a light pinch of the thera A dust in twice a day... and we do a Water change everyday.

I forgot to say, they started out on rotifers, we've been growing too, got our own chemistry lab looking shindig going on.. So pretty much, Start out on Rotifer's, then Live Brine shrimp/Thera A Dust

You want to know how to remove all algae and water changes? Build an algae turf scrubber, they are awesome I use one on my nano cube and will use one on my 125 (I only have one fish in it at the moment) and it's GREAT!

Also once the babies have grown up a little bit you will probably be able to tell by their color,if some are solid black compare them to black occelaris and it should be obvious from there.

Update Update Updateeeeeeeee,

Picture time! batch 1 is getting to be pretty big :) moved them out of their 2.5g tank and into a 10g tank with a split divider in it 1 half is the babies and the other half is a new pair of clowns we are trying to get to pair up and breed..(naked Oc's 1 black 1 orange)
but here's the pics of the first batch babies

Its really cool cause some of the babies have like black speckled fins/tails which im sure will turn into ALL black just like the male is.

I am the uncle here. Appreciate the comments. Yes i know the tank the parents are in is not up to standards, but starting now to get it back on track. Finally working now so will be able to upkeep it better. A question I have is that I would like to remove the parents from their tank and set up a ten gallon or something for them, By moving them would this disrupt their breeding cycle to the point it would take weeks or months for them to lay eggs again? When I bought as a mated pair it took 8 months for them to start laying eggs. Any advice or answers would be appreciated.

Pair of clowns went back into their bio cube. They seem happy. Laid eggs last Thursday only got 6 fry from tank. Majority off eggs hatched on the sixth night, was not expecting that.
