weird algae problem

i have this weird algae growing in my tank and i can't seem to get rid of it. i originally posted this topic under the boston reefer forum but i'm wondering if anyone outside brs knows anything about this algae

Hi TuftsReef,

Are you familiar with cyanobacteria? You might want to try looking it up. Do you test your phosphates and nitrates? If so, what are they? Phosphates and nitrates are the primary chemical "food" for this algae.

thanks kevin... my phosphates and nitrates are fairly low, will test again this weekend. i hope that with water changes and syphoning the algae away, it won't come back
