Hello,

My name is Roger Vitko, I am the president of Marine International LLC dba Tunze USA. We are the official wholesale distributor of Tunze products. The purpose of this forum is to assisst end users with repair service, spare parts and any questions they may have before or after they purchase a product from one of our vendors. Feel free to use this forum to ask any questions about Tunze products. I will use this forum periodically to announce new products and any product upgrades.

Seems some changes are a foot with Tunze selling into the U.S. I hope they're good ones that benefit us consumers-and the supply chain as well!!

Regarding new products, do you know when the new U.S. version of the "stream" pumps will be released?? They seem like an ideal addition to my 2x2002 multitimer setup!!

I think the changes will benefit the end consumer a great deal. I have done some apprenticeship under the factory electrician/repairman and have invested heavily in the meters and equipment necessary to ensure proper repairs. Warranty service is now domestically available. The prices may go up but very slightly and distribution will be much wider. The available product range will continue to increase and I work closely with the factory on new product development. Their are alot of exciting new products in the works, the Turbelle Stream is likely to be the biggest new innovation. Innitially the stream pump was scheduled for a November release, after Interzoo where the product was a focus of both the Tunze exhibit and one of the most novel products of the show, every effort is being made to bring it to market earlier. The 115v/60hz model will arrive at the same time as the 230/50hz model. My understanding is the molds to begin production are finished. Some final tests and a better way to mass produce and assemble the new propeller is all that is all that remains to be done. For the year end two models will be available, model 6080 which produces 2113 gph is a standard non pulsing pump, it consumes 15w of electricity. Model 6120 produces 3170 gph and is a pulsing low voltage model using 45W at 22V, approx 10W being consumed outside the tank by transformer and electronics so a negligible amount of heat is produced by the pump. For the end of 2003 or early 2004 a 5000 gph plus model will be available. The pricing will likely be approx $180 for the model 6080 and $300 for the model 6120. The warranty will be two years, as all products will now carry a two year warranty.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. My question is.
When do you think Tunze will have better supply for the demand?
I have looked with many suppliers ans everyone is out of stock

It is definitely getting better, in a couple weeks there will be plenty of 6100 Streams and 7094 multicontrollers to go around. After that I should get a good supply of the other models. All of the production problems have been resolved and a couple weeks back when Axel was visiting I was able to get a greater commitment to the US market. He basically had no idea so much was selling and thought I was just hoarding stuff until he saw the backorder file and the empty shelves. I will say that I anticipate some further hickups in production early next year because of some new product releases and the focus will be on making the new catalogue and preparing for Interzoo 2004. Innevitably things get harder around this time, likely I will also leave my post temporarily in Spring to go help with these projects.

The only draw back to the Tunze streams that I know of are the hangers (poor construction) and the general size of the Turbelle Streams. Any future plans to address these issues. Any date set for the release of a smaller stream with the same G/Per HR .

The other way to look at is American aquariums are of a poor design- the hanger works quite elegantly in Europe on a trimless tank. Most of the world uses trimless tanks America is a hold back because the consumer could initially not accept the silicon/glass aquariums and a non structural frame was added to give the consumer confidence from the days of metal framed aquariums. The Stream shape will not change nor will the hanger any time soon. The size simply cannot be reduced, the case is full of potting, electronics, ground strap, coil....

Stream Question

Stream Question

Roger,
Have decided to go w/ the Tunze Streams and scrap my closed loop project (mostly because of power consumption issues). My question is this: reef tank 100 gl, going to try to set up a mix of corals. Am leaning twds a 6000 stream powerhead. Can one 6000 provide the circulation (approx 1400 gph) I want on a controller or two 6000's on a single controller or two 6000's on a multi controller. Not sure how a single controller would work w/ two 6000's (looking for wave/surge action) or could one 6000 provide enough flow to reflect off far side of tank and cycle bank when the wave returns. I'm married, have to deal w/ the wife and how much she says I don't need any of this, so if one 6000 or a single controller w/ two 6000's vs a multicontroller saves aliitle money so be it. On the other hand if money wasn't an issue what's the best solution?
Respectfully,
Sam

How long is the tank? Be sure to tell your wife the same thing when she wants dresses and make up :)

Yes, a TS07- 1 6000 Stream with Single Controller would work nicely. Especially with a good return from the other side.

Im looking for the best way to go with my 125 gal.

tank is 72 long and 24 deep, not sure just what to do.
Thanks for any suggestions

Roger,
Any recommendation on placing a single pump? I'm thinking upper corner for diagnol flow across tanks vs actually bouncing the flow off an opposite wall. Do you think this will still provide the surge action?

Thanks,
Sam

fldamsel- what corals will you be keeping?

I think back corner to front corner will work nicely, but it depends on rock layout above all so side to side is also an option. These are generally trial and error decisions.

Roger,
At this time I haven't decided on exact corals, but I am setting the lighting up to even accommodate clams. This tank will be capable of most coral demands w/ the option of 'gearing down' lighting and flow. I'm sure this response doesn't help.

I see you are in Michigan. My best advice is to go to Preuss Animal House in Lansing. They have all these pumps in use so you can see them for yourself.

Roger,
I just received the 6000, my tank is acrylic w/ two access openings on top, needless to say I have no rim/edge to mount the controller hardware to. From what I gather I need the silicone mounting kit or can I drill a small hole next to the wall to slide a rail thru or what other mounting options are there?
Thanks,
Sam

As for the driver, you can disconnect the pump from the driver and just thread the cable through and reconnect it- make absolutely sure it is in a dry place. If you open the driver the pump unplugs from inside. You can drill a hole or hang it from an overflow box. Silicon has very poor adhesion to acrylic so that isn't really an option. Kit 3000.26 should allow you to clamp to the acrylic lip and run under it about 6" over and then down. If your lip is less than 6" wide this will work.

Roger,
I said it wrong I should rephrase, is there any way to mount the 'pump unit' w/ out drilling a hole thru top of the tank's cover/support? Could I mount the rail and bend it 90 degrees to go down the side? This way I only have to drill a small hole for a screw into rail not a hole to slide the entire rail thru. Maybe it's the same answer get kit 3000.26?

Thanks,
Sam
