What clown hosting anemone would be suitable for a 15G Display?

I'm setting up a new tank, dimensions will probably be (30L x 12.5W x 10H), and I'd like to try out an anemone w/a clown. The tank will have a 10G sump so I will have 25G of water volume total. It sounds like a lot of clown hosting anemones get very large. What are my options if any?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

IMHO:

The 10H would make a dsb dweller a negative.
The 12.5H and the 10H make it tough for a rock dweller.

At a minimum, I think you need to increase H to 16" and would be better off increasing W to 16" as well.

At that stage you have a shot at a few hosting species, but would likely find the most success with BTAs.

Good luck and fwiw: a clown does not need to have an anemone, many are happy with a clay flower pot, star polyps, ricordia, etc., etc.

Ok, so at this point there aren't any clown hosting anemones that are suitable for my tank. Increasing the depth 6" will take away from the shallow effect that I'm going for. Maybe I'll try one of the other things you suggested.

Thanks!

IME, none that would be likely be happy for long.

Best of luck with the project and make sure to post pics in the Nano Forum :)

What if I revise my question a little...

Are there any commercially available ameones, that aren't clown hosting, that would work in a tank of those dimensions? I was hoping for something that would stay rather small. I can do without the clown.

S. tapetum(some appear to be up to 4") These are sometimes sold as C. adhaesivum.

Flower/Rock Anemones(sometimes give E. crucifer label) Nice thing about these: you can find anemone shrimp and porcelain crabs to go in them :>)

IMHO: Work toward stability in the water conditions in a tank that size :)

Flower Rock Anemones seem promising. 8" a lot bigger than I was thinking though. Stichodactyla tapetum is a good size but my wife is just really interested in an anemone with elongated tentacles.

I like the idea of anemone shrimp and porcelain crabs also! Very cool.

Thanks again!

The whole idea of this tank is it's going to be kinda of like a tidepool/intertidal zone. I see anemones at local tide pools all the time in less than 2" of water but I guess that's only for very short periods of time due to the tide.

A condy sounds like exactly what I'd be looking for in terms of appearance. They're also from the region that I think I might be focusing on, the caribbean.

Such a small space, condies typical moves would lay the rest of the tank to waste.

Long tent, carib, check out a curly cue along with the flower anemone with a crab/shrimp :)
