What fish has bitten you

It seems like all the clowns I've owned through the years have bitten me. They always seem to know the most sensitive spot and bite it.

A good friend of mine got stung by a lion fish on his forearm. He had several nice bee sting looking wounds.

Not a fish, but years ago I picked up a rock that had a bristtle or fireworm on it and it stung one of the fingers pretty bad. Within a couple of days all the skin had died and was peeling off.

We had a 12" clown trigger - there is a picture in my gallery. My buddy was not paying attention and had his hand in the tank and it took his knuckle clean off.

ROFLOL. I thought I was the only one with a psychotic female A. ocellaris clown. Turns out, its a real character trait (or flaw, depending on POV.) of the species. Mine was defending what she considerd an sea anemone. It was actually a patch of Rhodactis corallimorpharians ('shrooms). They will defend their host with commendable loyalty.
This trait, alas, caused her to be "Reef Unsafe"! She would try to destroy any new coral placed any where in my old 36 gallon Reef.
Until a few weeks ago, Unfortunate close encounter with the powerhead intake ( I have to get that covered!). R.I.P you little she-devil!
Now I have a new Maroon clown. ( trembling in fear! LOL)

And I once got the Living H*** bit out of me by a Loggerhead Sea turtle, who was being treated in a rescue facility. Worst bite ever! Fortunately, he was a small one, or my handle here would be Lefty! LOL

My 9"ish porc puffer bit my finger, and came flying out of the tank when I pulled my hand out. I rely thought I was going to look down to a missing fingertip. It felt like a visegrip pinched me.

like Supasalty my perc. always gets the tender spots. About 6 months ago she actually got a little meal from between my fingers. OUCH!!!

My occ. clowns dont bite me at all. i can go right in their area, and they get scared and hide. the only thing i couldnt do was put a maxima clam near their hammer coral...or theyd pick it up and throw it off the cliff....

My ocellaris eventually learned I was vulnerable between my fingers. That little so and so could hit the webbing there faster thanI could blink..

My previous full-grown female Tomato clown used to bite the crap out of my hand making tank maintenance a dangerous endeavor. It once caused me to almost fall off my step stool while grabbing the metal halide fixture which almost fell in the tank. The thing literally almost caused me my life. He was evicted right after that incident.

My former female clown used to bite me all the time, but never enough to draw blood. She died, but I got her mate a new friend. He has since turned into a she. She is much nicer than the old girl though, she just swats me with her tail. The neon gobies will always try to clean my hand, and I had an exquisite wrasse that would follow my hand with the algae scrapper and nip the back of it. It was my favorite fish, but I made the mistake of not covering the tank.

i get bite every time i put my hand in the tank by my male clownfish, and black ribbon eel
my huma picasso trigger bites me often along with a couple other triggerfish, in our bigger tanks the emperor gets excited during feeding and bites too haha

The triggers can do some real damage, especially if they are larger. How do you get your knuckle cleanly bitten off, WOW!

That was my previous yellow lion. There is a nice thread on RC dedicated to just him. He jumped one day and I was devastated. It took me about a year to find another. Check out my garden eel thread and you'll see some pics of him there. Yes they generally go for between $150 & $250 depending on how much yellow they have. Divers Den will have them every once in a great while and that is where I bought my current one. Thanks for asking.

We had a pair of Maroon clowns and the female always went for ya when your hand was in the tank. She never got me , but she got my husband and his brother. Also my brother in law got a good chunk of skin taken off while working around the carpet anemone!

I use to get bit by my female Percula Clownfish for a year but she knows im not a threat anymore. :spin2:

When I had two o. Clowns in my 220 the larger female would always bite me on the webbing between my fingers. Even drew blood a few times. I removed the other clown and she never bit me again. (they weren't mated)
