What fixture?

I would go with T5 fixture as they are more intense and the bulb last twice as long as CF.

The "Nova Extreme T-5 Fixtures w/Lunar Lights" you list will be fine on your tank if you only intend to keep bta and softies. I will not put a clam under it.

While both Tek and Aquactinics cost more than Nova Extreme, but you can keep anything under them

One thing I suggest is get the best light you can afford to avoid upgrade down the road.

Guess you are right. To avoid buying any new fixtures in the future, I guess I'll get the outer orbit pro series.
I'll try this weekend.. will have to argue a lot to spend my money on this..

jc9394- i have that same light fixture. the nova extreme. got the clam when it was small. it's trippled in size since i have gotten it. i have hard and soft corals and there all growing with no issues.

Hey Maxi,

Don't shy away from the odyssea fixture! I have the 24" fixture and I love it! The only down side is I had to swap out the PC bulbs for better ones (20 dollars for 2 from helolights) and then swap out the stock MH ballast for one that was more effecient (which I had laying around, but others did for around 100 dollars). And after all that it was still cheaper then most of the other fixtures on the market!

Also read that thread about the fixture, alot of people had modded theirs to take VHO bulbs and T5's. But you are only using those for supplementation anyway!

Yippee! Another argument in my head :D

The nova extreme, odyssea, or the orbit!
:D

Nova is out of my head. Not enough wattage a gallon. Only 4 watts a gallon. Or am I wrong? I think its a little amount because my 3g has 6 watts per gallon..

I decided to go argue at home today, so.. which will be best for a long lasting, efficient, won't make me go " :( " after a year of use, and will last more than 10 years.

Odyssea/orbit

aquatinics t5 is far and above the better option, if your looking for quality.

Ok, but does it come with the bulbs? The website doesn't say it does, is there one that does come with the bulbs?

Ok, decided on the aquatinics tx5, because of quality.

What bulbs do I get for it? I never ordered a light from them-- so I don't know what to tell them. So I pretty much don't know what to do except do the checking out for this. Don't know what bulbs :D

What are riser brackets? Will I need them for my new fixture?

Do I order the bulbs from drsf&s, or from the same website?

Thank you for all the help...!

Just wondering about another thing, I keep wondering about this every time I think of bulbs. Do reefs need more actinic, or do they have to be even with flourescent, ect.
I called scotslights, but they aren't available right now, it says 8am-5pm but they aren't picking up?? Goes straight to the voice mail.
