What have you done with your tank lately?

My No3 has been stuck between 10-25 (Salifert) for the past couple weeks with my vodka at 60ml per day so today I increased my dosage to 1/2 cup. I'll dose this for a week or so and see if it drops any.

So been working on adding the 57g tank to the big system and finally got around to it over the past couple weeks.

I decided to use vinyl tubing for the plumbing because it would have been a PITA to use regular PVC,I think it turned out pretty good.

I still have a few screw holes and spots to patch before we add the trim around the tank and paint the wall the same color as the one thats behind the 220.

Im grabbing a couple WP25s tomorrow from Mike. I have a 2 bulb T5HO fixture on top of it for now with plans to maybe get something else later although I'm just planning on a zoa garden (for now. lolz).

You probably want to support the tubing. All that weight pulling on the barb fitting could develop a leak in time. Either that or a clamp.

I added the mantis, the two clownfish and damsel today, along with some more rubble,a screen top and two wp25s today. Felix is hiding in the rock work now, I'm hoping he finds his cave and not make his home behind it. lolz

Ran a new electrical circuit with a 20 amp arc fault circuit breaker to run my fuge lights, cal reactor and future frag tank expansion.

Installed new 'T' on my manifold for future frag tank expansion.

Spent what seems to be hundreds of hours killing aptasia with ApX. Not much of a noticeable difference.

I make RODI ice cubes and kill the aptasia by freezing it to death. The ice seems to kill the baby's they blossom as they die also. It has worked for me many times.

I set up my tiny QT and started treating my baby clowns for ich today. They are doing well and eating now. So all seems good.

So got the paint and trim done. Still need to caulk and paint the trim but Im pretty happy with it so far.

Also after 4-5 days after adding Felix and him hiding in the rock work behind his pvc cave I looked into the tank this morning and saw this.

Ive had the mantis for about 2 years I guess hes grown quite a bit since Ive gotten him. He's been really busy today since finding his new cave, moving rubble around like crazy.

yep sorry, not pistol, mantis :D I get them mixed up in my head. They look super cool but I have never kept one.

And finished.

I cut a couple pieces of black acrylic to put between the trim and the tank to cover the edge of the drywall.

Heres before.

And heres after.

I understand the RODI ice cubes, but how to you use those cubes to kill aptasia? How about a little tutorial?

I just built this new (experimental) algae scrubber. I built a small version which quickly became covered in algae so I built a large one. It is basically a cotton sheet hung over a tube with holes in it so that water runs down the material. Algae grows very fast in air because there is no water to impede the light.
