I understand the RODI ice cubes, but how to you use those cubes to kill aptasia? How about a little tutorial?
I use rubber tongs or gloves and hold the cube on the aptasia's foot. From the moment it gets near it will retract to a very tiny dot (extremely tiny so locating the foot before freezing is a good idea). I hold the cube as close to it as possible until it performs its death blossom (white milky substance((I continue to hold it for just a bit more)) most of the time it is then dead at that point and decomposes over the next day. I have had a few stubborn ones that lasted twice with the ice (they come back in crazy shapes, very deformed), but the majority seem to hate the sudden drop in temp.
My experience is with FOWLR tanks, I am running my first true reef now and have not had to deal with them. I am certain the ice will damage coral though, so a steady hand would be needed.
