What have you done with your tank lately?

I just added a Maxspect Gyre 130 to my 36 gallon bowfront. Have it on pulse at 50% power and it's amazing. I'm getting flow everywhere and that isn't easy considering the large rock structure that dominates the center of the tank. I wish I had picked up one of these sooner!

I increased the intensity on my new light from 50 to 55%. My corals have reacted well to the new fixture. The couple acans that I have in there have doubled in size.

cemented my rock together and corals in place, installed my skimmer and ato to the new stand; everything's fitting in with plenty of room, I am so not used to that. Considering upgrading from a 5g ato tank to a 15 or 25g. looking at computers and backup batteries. thinking of getting one I can run a power head on for a while if the power fails.
So, for the most part I have all the equipment I need, its time to start stocking my dream tank :D.
got me another wrasse :D

Wow 1 % that is a lot of $ for 1 %

I got them cause I'm gathering for a larger tank and UniqueCorals has partnered with Neptune to give $100 in coral if you bought a WAV Starter kit. I was gonna get 'em anyhow. It's pretty different from the 2 RW 4s I had in there...

My CC is doing good, the hair algae doesn't stand a chance lol. Still got plenty to keep a tang nice and fat too. I need some suggestions on what tangs to go with for my tank, I don't want to just get the normal powered blue and Hawaiian Yellow. Lets do something really cool. I need to get a bigger glass magnet, my little 2 inche mag from my old 40 is just not doing it anymore lol, its taking forever. Heres some before shots.

Finally got my Alk back up to 8KH after it was stuck at 6 and my Ca to 430 up from 350. My corals were using it as fast as I could add it for a couple weeks so I upped my dosage from 10mL of Bionic to 15mL daily with a couple additional doses to bump it up over a couple days. Corals have responded very nicely and there is a lot of new growth after a long time of little to no growth. I had let it go when my son was born last January, but now the GHA is gone, ATS is producing lots of algae for nutrient export, corals are growing, and skimmer is still broken down without any consequences. Now I just need to stay on top of the water changes. I also need to test for Mag, but that test takes time and I'm watching the little one when the wife works nights. Wish me luck.

Cleaned the glass and topped off the ATO reservoir. :bounce3:

Good luck!

120 has been cleaned out and aquascaped.

Tested parameters on the failed science project, (FSP) looking system.

Fed the fish in FSP system and in QT.

New PH probes and RO/Di filters and membrane were delivered today.

Still on the agenda is disconnect the 75 gallon sump from the FSP system, hook up a smaller 20 gallon sump in its place, and clean it out for use with the 120.

Once that happens, I can begin to cycle the 120 and get it going again, and eventually tear down the FSP system.

How long is to long for sand to sit? I'm finishing the take down of my old tank today and have the old live sand in a 40g Rubbermaid. Is it good to save or do I just toss it? Its been siting in about a inch of standing room temp water for a week.

Breaking down the rest of the old system and trying to finish the cleanup on the spare room today.

It is up to you. It has only been a week. Just remember that bacteria load has changed to anaerobic.(low oxygen) When you add it to your tank the bacteria will most likely crash so give it some time to re-cycle. Personally I would probably rinse the sand really good myself and then add it. Again you will greatly damage the bacteria population doing this so after you add it to the tank it will need to cycle. Remember sand is just sand. It does not go bad. It is all the micro-organisms and built up waste you have to worry about.

Purlpes are nice if you like the Zebrasoma shape. Tomini or Kole would be two others that are cool but understated.

For the magnet cleaner, look at the Tunze care magnet...they are awesome.

Personally, I have just always replaced my sand and seeded it with a bit of the old. If I were going to reuse it, I would rinse it well and prepare for a possible small cycle.
