What have you done with your tank lately?

Couple weeks ago I received notification that I was accepted into Neptune Apex's Insider program. Means I get to beta test some of their cool new toys. Today I just received my flow monitoring kit. Unfortunately the wife is working the next 3 nights so I won't have time to hook it up. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be able to see how much my pumps are cycling back into the tank and how much flow I have going through my reactors

That is very cool. I just read about that program this morning on their forum.
I'd really like to see the flow meter end up being something worth purchasing.

Indid one of those water change things.... now I remember why I hated those so much... here is to doing it again, hopefully before spring

I made a canopy for my tank.

While sitting on our couch downstairs you would be distracted by the MH on the tank. I decided to make a canopy but only had about 9" of clearance between the top of the tank and the drop ceiling and I didnt want a big 6' one piece canopy I had to move when I had to get in the tank. I ended up making a 3 piece canopy that hangs from the ceiling with wire and hooks. I can remove one piece to gain access to that part of the tank.

It totally changed the way I look at the tank. You can look at the tank without the glare of the lights blasting you in the face. I do have to trim the wires but Im really happpy the way it turned out.

Looks awesome.
Surprising how much more light seems to be directed into the tank also, isn't
it?

Thanks. Well it's surprising how much the light was shining preventing me from seeing the tank like I wanted. Now that its covered I realize it was kinda like a spot light shining in your face when you're trying to see what's right below it.

Did you paint the inside white?

I didn't . I was thinking about it but I already had the black and my laziness got in the way.

Added some more fish this week:

How well do the foxface/rabbitfish get along together?

I've always wanted a Magnificent Foxface, but I already have a One Spot Foxface and I was under the impression they don't play well together.

Oh that is the same fish. I just wanted to show how much he changes patterns and color. I would not recommend putting two rabbit fish in the same tank unless you have a very large tank. Does your one spot change color and or patterns?

I knew it was the same fish, but cool to show folks the stark contrasts they are capable of displaying.

Yeah its one of the reasons I wanted one. He tends to hover in the rock work and go camo until something interests him like food or somebody walking by the tank. Then he changes to the brighter colors and becomes more active. :fish2:

I wondered if it was the same fish because mine will do that too. Most of the time he's bright yellow, but if I start messing with the tank he'll hide in the rocks and all that yellow goes away. It's really very amazing.

He will also put on his ghillie suit when someone new comes into my office. It's interesting that he recognizes people.

Other than his taste for expensive zoas, he's a great fish.

Finally fragged up one coral. It was growing out of the water.
Cut down and inch or two. Have other corals to trim but know where to go with them:(

that could happen.
Though would it be fair for me to play lol?
I'm also game for trading and selling:)

you can see some flat spots where the coral was growing out of the water.

Next coral growing contest?

That's a great idea if He's willing to donate the coral,of course he would get CDP points for them.

Yea you could be in the contest, everyone would start on equal ground even if the frags were different size with a pic of their frag and we would go for a year with pics each month and determine how much growth each person has at the end and pick a winner.

My tank is at a point now that I could actually take part in this contest and not kill the frag. lolz
